............................
Without light it is difficult to return even knowing every turn of the road. Without light it is easy to make a mistake at the intersections and get lost in a maze of decisions. Without light, painful wounds lurk behind each misstep. Without light, the eyes and reason believe what they need to believe. Without light all the senses lazily awaken. Without light, you cannot distinguish shortcuts or signs.
It is possible not to need the light, if you have never been lost.

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.
So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”
― Neil Gaiman
Oh no, I didn't know that the rainbow wasn't green....
Then the pot of gold will probably not be there either.......

is better than faking perfections.
I made many mistakes in my life, made wrong decisions and also injured people. But with pride I can say ... I stand by it. I don't hide anything. I don't have to make myself more important and better than I am to get attention. I don't have to turn on my friends' wives either. I am just me, with all strengths and weaknesses.
Every bell ringers dreads dropping a clanger particularly those on their bell!
(A word of explanation to those whose first language is not British English. To ‘drop a clanger’ is an expression used to signify that you have made a big mistake! Once very popular now seldom heard.)
"It is nice to think how one can be recklessly lost in a daisy!"
-Anne Morrow Lindbergh
This photo was an accidental shot. But like many mistake photos (in this case, the overexposed settings) I rather liked the effect and learned something. I found the overblown-out daisy petals, with only the yellow centers visible, interesting - as if they were being transported to another dimension.

"Butterflies are A-W-E-S-O-M-E, make no mistake!"
Blue tiger butterfly specimen (Tirumala limniace)!
The males have a brush at tip of the abdomen. They protrude it out and stroke the pouches of specialized scent scales on the hind wings to scatter the scent that attract the females. The eggs are laid on the tender buds or flower buds or the tips of the leaves.
An interesting video I found:

[Why Is Blue So Rare In Nature?]
The disagreeable weather might tell you otherwise, but the birds make no mistake: it is spring! The tiny Wren is up and at it, and both males and females sing.

I liked the way the foliage framed this upper portion of Rainier's Narada Falls. This is perhaps half of the fall's 168 foot (51 m) tumble. Taken in mid-September when flow was lower. Really roars come spring.
This is the largest waterfall on the Paradise river. A great example of a horsetail waterfall.
"The name Narada was proposed by Arthur F. Knight and adopted in 1893 for the Narada branch of the Theosophical Society of Tacoma. Narada is a Hindu word meaning 'uncontaminated' or 'pure'. Early variants on the spelling include Neradah, and the common mistake of Nevada Falls.
Curiously an 1897 map produced by Henry Sarvant and G.F. Evans marks a "Big Paradise Falls" along the Paradise River which is assumed to represent Narada Falls." worldwaterfalldatabase.com
Just one of the many impressive waterfalls at Rainier National Park.
I won't just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh
Oh, ye of so little faith
Don't doubt it, don't doubt it
Victory is in my veins
I know it, I know it
And I will not negotiate
I'll fight it, I'll fight it
I will transform
When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, you're out of time
But still, I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise

I was playing around with some of the settings in my camera's menu and accidentally turned on multiple exposures.
Didn't realize it until I went to my son and daughter-in-law's place a few days later for a "Tea, Pumpkin Carving and Games" party. My first 3 shots got combined into one triple exposure. Kind of a ghostly image, just in time for Halloween.
Sometimes, mistakes can make for an interesting image.
Hi, Sometimes I get this and sometimes I do not. On this whole macro photo shoot, there was a white haze that seems to go over the top of the photo. This is completely unedited. It even happens on the better exposed photos and with lower iso. I need help to identify the cause of this.
Shooting a bug zapper, I accidentally zoomed during what turned out to be a long exposure.
Even mistakes can make a pretty cool pic.

Like when shooting in direct sunlight, then walking into the shade and forgetting to change your camera settings. But, occasionally it works out. It just might take a little more post-processing then usual.

Well, the result here is no mistake - but it is due to one.
This is the central, octagonal tower as seen from the interior of Ely cathedral. It's current look is due to a collapse to the tower structure in 1322, probably due to building works in the vicinity. The tower dated to Norman times (work on the cathedral we see today began in 1083) and the tower was not so much completely replaced as re-styled to its current, quite eye-catching Gothic look.

For some reason, this and a couple of other pics came out really dark and grainy (I probably screwed up a setting or two again). But, instead of trying to fix it or even trash the pic, I decided to go with it.

This was certainly the highlight of 2018 seeing and photographing Pine Grosbeaks which are rarely present in our area. If I am not mistaking, this one would be a Juvenile male, do not hesitate to correct me. After missing them early morning, I searched for them the entire morning without success. It is not until noon that I heard them way up high in a pine tree (very happy I listened to their call on the internet the night before). I waited a long while until they came down to this tree. Beautiful male (4), 1 or 2 female and this Juvenile male were feeding as sloppy as they can be. This is one of many shots I got from this flock... more to come.
I thought you were mine and that was the biggest mistake of thought but I was so wrong, the actual mistake was listening to the thought of heart which was mindless!
