we discovered this nest a couple of weeks ago...very cleverly hidden. as we did yard work, mama robin perched on the nearby magnolia tree with tufts of grass in her beak. yesterday, while doing more yard work, she flew out and we checked...and sure enough, three beautiful eggs had been laid :)

Black Angus calf gets it's first nursing.
I first noticed the cow cleaning the newborn calf as i drove past a farm on Old Hwy 66. After finding a safe place to turn around and locating a pull over spot, the calf was nursing.
On a rainy Wednesday morning, life goes on!
The Fragaria virginiana is the wild ancestor of cultivated strawberries. The small plant, with white flowers and tiny, red berries is a member of the rose family. The ripe fruit can be harvested from April through June. It is a perennial that loves filtered sunshine, and can often be found growing wild in old fields or on forest edges. The wild strawberry has many uses, some of which date back hundreds of years. The leaves and roots have medicinal properties, and have long been used as an astringent. Strawberry juice is a folk remedy for blotchy skin, and strawberry leaf tea is a good source of vitamin C.

My friend Mao's beautiful thought, which I'd like to share with you all:
"so many things we take it for granted .
so many things we may miss
this is one of life simple creation, yet beautiful"
Thank you very much my friend!

By the time I, aided and cheered on by my very patient and lovely, friend and helper, made it all the way to the top of Tumamoc Hill, the sun had set. I am grateful for your gentle but firm encouragement and assistance... And, with a full heart, I wish you happiness, peace, and all good things with your new life choices...
It took all my will power to keep moving forward up the ever steepening trail, all the way to the top... My hands were shaking, so the lights in the valley are blurred...;))
Going down the hill was a whole additional adventure... My legs were not really happy to obey my commands, and a completely different set of leg and tush muscles was brought to bear in what seemed to be an unending painful throbbing. At the same time, the adrenaline rush is very noticeable, with its accompanying feeling of calm, satisfaction, and well being...
The walk or hike was on Sunday evening. I am writing this in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. My legs are still recovering. I lost almost two pounds, and I am a bit sore but content...

About half the way to the top of Tumamoc Hill, at sunset... The sky was overcast with lots of cloud cover.
Last night I made it hiking to the top of Tumamoc Hill. This is the first time I made it all the way to the top since my horrible knee pain of last February that had me in a wheelchair...

Thank you for your favs and comments, your feedback is much appreciated ;)
We had so much fun at the Museum of Science and Industry, but our favorite part will always be the chick hatchery. We had been watching a little guy trying with all his might to chip away at his shell and we were hoping we could see him hatch before the museum closed. A senior adult was watching with us, a lovely lady with a huge heart. She told us to ask the Lord if He would help him hatch! A crowd had formed, and there we were - a group of about 20 strangers cheering on a little chick! Just as the museum was closing he finally broke free of his shell. The older lady was so excited. She then went to each of us and said, "Don't ever grow up! Always be a child!"
