This old mining tunnel was next to the waterfall. Unlike most caves and old mines, there was no fence or warning sign trying to keep people out. It was possible to walk a good way into the tunnel and i didn't find the end of it.

The Hearst Memorial Mining Building at the University of California, Berkeley, is home to the university's Materials Science and Engineering Department. The Beaux-Arts-style Classical Revival building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is designated as part of California Historical Landmark #946. It was designed by John Galen Howard, with the assistance of the UC Berkeley-educated architect Julia Morgan and the Dean of the College of Mines at that time, Samuel B. Christy. It was the first building on that campus designed by Howard. Construction began in 1902 as part of the Phoebe Hearst campus development plan. The building was dedicated to the memory of her husband George Hearst, who had been a successful miner.
Clipstone Colliery was a coal mine situated near the village of the same name on the edge of an area of Nottinghamshire known as “The Dukeries” because of the number of stately homes in the area. The colliery was owned by the Bolsover Colliery Company and passed to the National Coal Board in 1947. The headstocks and powerhouse are grade II listed buildings.
I visited this spot in May of 2023 for the first time but the clouds didn't cooperate then and I didn't make it back in October of that year. So when I returned to Duluth in September 2024 I figured I'd give it another try. My GF and I had a nice day of hiking and swimming and generally exploring the north shore planned but I made her get an extra early start to drive straight here first...and I'm glad I did because my wait upon arrival was only about 10 minutes before train time!
The first loaded 156 car train of the day is at about MP 5 on Cleveland-Cliffs Northshore Mining Railroad in this view looking from the famous 'railfan rock' along airport road outside of Silver Bay. NSMX 671 and 675 are ex CSXT SD70ACEs built in 2004 and acquired by the Northshore in 2020. The non common carrier 47 mile private line haul Northshore Mining Railroad has been operating since 1955 when built by the Reserve Mining Company to haul raw magnetite ore to their plant in Silver Bay which when opened was the first taconite pellet production facility in the nation.

Literally a small mining tank with laser capable to cut chunks of rock. Usually it's controlled by driver/operator sitting inside armored cabin, but it can function unmanned (just let's pretend that "WALL" is a good name for a company, ok?).
Another build inspired by Hibernia and mining equipment, idea for a tracked mining vehicle with laser gun on it came from this MOC by Cap . I have a feeling that this machine does not fit into the criteria of the models typical for Febrovery, but I really like to construct more purposefully-built wheeled and tracked vehicles than usual rovers. And gosh, making these tracks in Studio is really annoying.....

The entire surface plant was destroyed by fire in 1934, and the metal frame shown here rebuilt in 1938.
Copper mining infrastructure, part of Phelps Dodge Corporation copper mining operation in Bisbee, AZ. Mining operations stopped in 1974. I believe these towers were used for some type of post-processing of the recovered slurry.
