A little more powerful edit of the Milky Way image. It was incredible to see, in the middle of the night with Bob Griesel. Bob and I started photographing and developing film together in 1964 or so. Fun times indeed, and they continue on!

Many thanks for your warm and kind visits my dear flickr friends! 💙

Really dark skies in the New Forest were needed to get the shot of the Milky Way over Andrews Mare pond.

Four shot Pano with post to remove some of the light pollution, balance the colours and bring out the details in the dust lanes.

at last a clear moonless night - the first in about a month - the milky way rises above the ridge line - the sky above on the left glows bright yellow from the light pollution coming from the city of Brisbane - the rest of the sky contains red and to a lesser extent green airglow.

This was created with one row of eight images taken in portrait and merged in Lightroom 6.

I probably won't get a chance to see the comet that's passing by now but it got me thinking about the stars and then I found this image from last summer.

Milky Way rising along the Mendocino Coastline just before the fog bank begins to roll in. Lights along the horizon on the left are from the Point Arena Lighthouse. Single long exposure at dark for the foreground and 10 sky frames stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker for sky noise reduction.

Bit of a cheat, the Milky Way shot was taken about a mile away as Billy thunderstorm was rolling in and I was a couple of miles from the car, obviously Billy had buggered off by the time I got back to the car...........

The milky way above Bolivia. With minimum light pollution, it was a great experience. Although I had side reflections on the screen, I decided to post. I hope you will like. Thank you for your likes and comments and for your valuable time.

We went out at 3AM this morning to try and capture the Milky Way, with mixed results. We went to Fort Fisher which is really the only close place with NO lights at all. Unfortunately even though it was fairly clear, there were still very high clouds coming through. I had planned to use a tracker to take longer exposures, but it was too unstable on my tripod and I was forced to take a series of 20 second exposures, to avoid star trails. It's actually kind of scary down there with no lights, so I'm glad I had company with a flash light. That light on the horizon on the right I think must be a ship. I had to work kind of fast, and not having much experience at this, I made a lot of mistakes. The waning moon was set to rise at 5:12AM and even though the sunrise is at 6:28, it really begins to get light at least an hour before that. I planned to align the tracker with the northern star, but the batteries in the laser used to align the tracker went dead, plus the tracker was too unstable. I always tell James it's good that I get a lot of cussing out of my system now and again...
