Spotted this milestone on the A30, illuminated brilliantly in the afternoon light.

Unlike many, it is not listed, but one two miles away is and these probably date from around 1743. However, some of these on the old turnpike here, were moved about and re-engraved, so we can really only say it is pretty old!

I began driving all the way from Key West racing through traffic as fast as possible to take this picture. It was quite the adventure.

45699 'Galatea' running as 45627 'Sierra Leone' and 45562 tackles Miles Platting's 1 in 47 with the Railway Touring Company's 'The Peaks Express'. This ran with the reporting number 1Z53 working the charter from Preston through to Derby.

I always like taking road shots especially when you can stand in the middle of the road. This was a cool road to do it on because I could pretty much take as long as I wanted as there were hardly any cars on it and even if there was one I could see it miles before it got to me.

Miles normally will bite me and paw at my face; well, today, he jumped up on my lap... purred, and behaved himself! He was a joy this time.. hoping this will happen more often in the future. 🐈

Taken with a Canon 60D.
