Que decir de esta ciudad tan mitica , cada vez que pasa el tiempo y repaso mis fotos me gusta mas lo que veo ya que cada vez tengo menos fotos decentes y solo el tiempo va haciendo que mi nivel de exigencia baje.. Inaugurado el 21 de enero de 1911, fue adjudicado por concurso y diseñado por los arquitectos franceses Jules y Raymond Février para la compañía de seguros La Unión y el Fénix. La obra final la llevó a cabo el español Luis Esteve Fernández-Caballero, que la terminó en 1910.
Fue construido sobre el terreno liberado durante la construcción de la Gran Vía, al derruirse la conocida popularmente como "Casa del Ataúd", llamada así por lo estrecho del solar en donde se ubicaba, entre las calles de Alcalá y del Caballero de Gracia.

The human eye processes a brightness range that exceeds that of digital cameras by several orders of magnitude. Just how the eye and the brain achieve this phenomenal performance is not understood into the last detail, but for sure the brain uses a technique called "local contrast enhancement". That is, our eye does not have the same sensitivity over the entire image, but rather it locally tweaks it up and down, depending on what is being projected onto the corresponding part of our retina.
This image is an attempt at visualizing this function - while it is imposssible to truly show this, I've taken the liberty to reduce the resolution of the contrast enhancement in favor of a little eye candy ...

Modern architecture ... to its extreme. After processing the image the film Metropolis came into my mind. Do not take this too serious, just for fun a more dramatic mood.
