Macro Mondays theme Tag
This was Cookie's collar and dog tag. It now has pride of place in our living room next to his ashes.
Width of frame is around 4 cm.
Happy Macro Monday!
This spot holds many precious memories. We lived near this nature preserve years ago while our son was young and spent so many happy hours delighting in every new discovery. Revisiting years later, I lingered in this place for quite a while, reminiscing and missing those times.
Now we have a precious granddaughter, but over one thousand miles and travel restrictions separate us, and as wonderful as FaceTime visits are, I SO want to spend time with her chasing butterflies, catching and releasing crayfish and tadpoles, listening to the birds, sharing laughs and hugs, and treasuring our time together!
....of my Mum who passed away earlier this year. Miss you Mum 💔
Hope everyone is doing OK. This is the reason I haven't been about much over the last year or so. I've done very little photography lately but hoping to get back into it over the next few months.
there they are, all my braincells replicated in a silo. happy new year everyone!! i love how time rolls like a wave around this big ball we all live on, striking the midnight hour according to pleats folded on the planet. ok, so i love this!....went out to dinner tonight and discovered a 13 yr old had accidentally walked off with my coat. got it when they drove back but i had done the same thing at the exact hour on christmas eve last week. so coat theft is the new must-have biorythm. love you all, thanks for a year of gobsmack amazing images. you make me happy.
As I think back over the enjoyable experiences of last year, near the top would have to be our workshops in Mammoth Lakes and Moab. I truly enjoyed meeting so many nice people and photographing nature's wonder together! This is Convict Lake in the Eastern Sierra.

昔から大阪には無料の渡し船が何カ所かあるのをご存知だろうか?・この船に乗らなかったため、この家族の貸し切りとなった・ただここの渡船場はなくなり思い出となった・・・
Time to head home and take refuge in the safe place of my book shelf - the two surviving wooden elephants from Sri Lanka. The rest is memory.
It has been a while since I posted a flower shot so one from the archives today :) HBW!
Many thanks for all the kind comments and faves - they're very much appreciated.
Fuji X-Pro1 plus Helios 44M-7 at F2. When you grow old, there is a constant seepage or loss of memory. You normally notice this yourself, in particular when reading old letters or diaries. It is just like whisky in the barrel with its slow loss of alcohol during the aging process. That loss is called the angel's share. Whisky is getting better with age. Whether that is true for people is another matter. However, if the lost alcohol goes to the angels, where would the lost memories go? Are they going anywhere? Or will these memories simply be obliterated? Can or even must I remember on behalf of somebody else whose memories have already gone? These and other questions pop up when you observe somebody losing his or her memories due to a severe accident or illness. You immediately recognise that our memories are essential for determining who we are and that the fragmentation of memory is a devastating process and will send us on a search for the person we once thought we know. We then start to re-member, to put together again what has fallen apart. There is consolation in the thought that there may be a place where all the memories are preserved and nothing is ever lost. But if you are not sure about this, like me, it is up to us whether we re-member or not.
I'm an avid reader and I just finished reading my 352cnd book of the year on Saturday-The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa which is a haunting book (and also a bit of a book within a book) about the nature of memory and humanity both. Here's an NPR review:

Street portrait from Glasgow, Scotland.
Black and white re-edit of a portrait of Shannon from my '100 Strangers' street portrait project in Glasgow. Stunning in colour, with her green outfit and red hair, there is an entirely different but equally magical quality in black and white. Memories of happier times as we still linger in lockdown.
Stay safe everyone!
