I used to be angry at my friend Doug for skipping rocks in Moraine Lake on an unreal day... I'm starting to change my mind on the subject haha. September 30th of last year remains one of my most memorable days for moments captured like this.

The RV 252 Tyin, Innlandet is not a long road, but it took me a few hours to get to Eidsbugarden. The views over there were to blame;-)

Lake Tyin is wonderful. Even on a cloudy day:-)

First light on some of the Ten Peaks reflected in Moraine Lake. My soul was singing as I experienced this memorable morning. The air was crisp and chilly, all was quiet (the buses hadn't arrived yet; had it to myself) and the show was amazing. Still smiling from this special dawn.

A couple more shots from this lovely dawn in comments:

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

One of the most delightful evenings spent in Ullsfjord, Tromso by observing the Northern Lights painting the sky with unearthly, surreal colors.

The display began in the evening and continued with varying intensity and movements.

Needless to say, many pictures were taken during this wonderful and memorable display of the Aurora Borealis.

Thank you for your comments,

Gemma

During a trip to Hawaii, my husband and I stayed in a private home on the property that also housed a parrot sanctuary. The owners of the property invited us inside the large aviaries to meet their feathered friends. This gorgeous bird was one of my favorites. His original owners had brought him to the sanctuary as he was much too loud to live in the small apartment with his owners. During our visit he was quietly investigating the metal bar of the aviary and seemed oblivious to us.

It is usually this time of year that we head on up to Mannum on the Murray River for a holiday. Unlikely to happen this year, so I couldn't resist a trip back through the archives for some of my favourite sunrise moments. This was always the best way to start every day up there. Up early, a mug of hot coffee, and sit quietly on the deck, just me and the birds all slowly coming to life.

One of the most memorable dawn and sunrises I have ever seen

at Lindisfarne on our recent photography break in Northumberland...it just gave and gave.

Worth the very early start to witness.

Morning fortune at Banff's Two Jack lake this day. Often sunrises don't pop and glow like we wish after waiting in the dark and cold. Not this morning though. Daybreak developed slowly with lots of clouds over Mt. Rundle. And then the first warm rays of the sun struck. Bingo!

The Boboli Gardens in Florence was impressive, not only for the flora growing there, but the sculptures placed throughout the historic park.

It was opened to the public in 1766. Originally created for the Medici family, it represents one of the first and most important examples of an Italian garden.

The water for the fountains and ability to water the plants came about through an interesting method. As the garden lacks a natural water source, a conduit was built to feed water from the nearby Arno River into an elaborate irrigation system.

This is another scan from my collection of old slides. I had a very memorable morning on New Years Day 1984. The previous year had been pretty tough so I decided to change my outlook by getting up in the middle of the night and driving to Marin Headlands to photograph the sunrise. What a morning! This photo was taken before the sun cleared the horizon, through the Golden Gate Bridge toward San Francisco. It was a wonderful way to start the New Year.

Scenes and moments like this is why I'm a photographer.

As I get older it takes a bit more to get me excited, having experienced many grand times and moments in years past.

Must say I feel like a kid at Disneyland after a morning like this.

Particularly when this is just the beginning of a day of image hunting in spectacular country.

Your comments, faves, suggestion and support are always appreciated.

Hope your weekend is off to a great start.
