"Warriors Of The Wasteland" -Frankie Goes To Hollywood

www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZgqdOmQPEc

From diamond mine to the factory

Everybody's doing what you've got to keep on doing for society

Make this world a good place to be

Let live and be but don't work for free

Playing isn't paying so work is what I'm saying

Working for the world go round

The battle cry don't mess with me

I've traveled the world for eternity

Warriors of the wasteland

Sailboats of ice on desert sands

Warriors of the wasteland

It seems to me that the powers that be

Keep themselves in splendour and security

Armoured cars for megastars

No streets, no bars, yours wealth is ours

They make the masses, kiss their assets

Lower class jackass, pay me tax take out the trash

Working for the world go round

Your job is gold, do as you're told

They pay you less then run for congress

Warriors of the wasteland

Sailboats of ice on desert sands

Warriors - what a waste, man

I'm working for the world go round, go round

Diamond mine to the factory, yeah

Make this world a good place to be

Warriors - what a waste, man

Legendary comedic actress, best known for the title role in the hit television sitcom of the 1950’s “I Love Lucy.” She was born Lucille Desiree Ball was on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. Intent on becoming an actress, she left high school at age 15, and tried unsuccessfully to get into drama school in New York City. Undaunted, Ball took a job as a waitress while trying for jobs in modeling and in chorus lines of Broadway shows. Moderately successful in these pursuits, she was chosen to be the poster model for Chesterfield Cigarettes in 1933, which got her national exposure for the first time, and caught the attention of Hollywood. She started at the bottom, with bit parts in low budget films, but her initial success would lead to bigger and better parts. Ball would appear in over 60 films by the late 1940s. After performing in the musical "Too Many Girls," in 1940 with popular Cuban band leader, Desi Arnaz, Ball fell in love with her co-star, and married him later that year. Their performing schedules clashed frequently, and the newlyweds often found themselves on opposite sides of the country at the end of the week. This was a problem because of the time needed for long distance travel in the days before jet airliners. The young couple decided that the best chance for their marriage to work was if they worked together. Offered her own TV series in 1950, Ball refused unless Arnaz could co-star. Television was a godsend for the couple. They formed their own production company called "Desilu.” Arnaz discovered he had a natural executive ability, and was soon calling all the shots for the project that would become “I Love Lucy.” From 1951 through 1957, it was the most popular show on television, and Ball was at last firmly established as a megastar. Working on camera through her second pregnancy, ‘Lucy’ was the first obviously pregnant woman to appear on network television. When the much-publicized birth of her son, Desi Arnaz Jr., occurred on the show in January 1953, the story received more press coverage than President Eisenhower's inauguration. "I Love Lucy" won more than 200 awards, 5 Emmys and the respect and adoration of the country. After 179 episodes of the "I Love Lucy," Ball and Arnaz decided to call it quits for the sake of their marriage. They soon began taping another show, named "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour,” which didn't need the time and attention of their previous works. Arnaz was able to spend more at home, working with "Desilu." By the end of the 1950s, Desilu became a powerful, respected corporation, producing such hit TV shows as "Star Trek" and "Mission Impossible." After 20 years of marriage, Ball and Arnaz divorced in 1960. While Arnaz turned to alcohol and was rarely seen in public again, Ball took out a loan for $3 million and bought her ex-husbands half of Desilu. Desilu was then the world's largest television production facility, so Lucy's take-over made her the first woman in Hollywood history to hold such a powerful position. In 1962, encouraged by fans, Ball reprised her role as ‘Lucy’ in a new TV series, as she starred in "The Lucy Show." It would run successfully for 6 years, and feature her real life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., and former “I Love Lucy” co-star, Vivian Vance. When "The Lucy Show" went off the air, Ball wasted no time in reformatting the show and starring in yet another series based on the same character. "Here's Lucy," was instantly picked up by the networks and ran on prime time through 1974. It was during this same period that Ball won rave reviews for her appearance on Broadway in, "Wildcat." On the heels of that success, Ball teamed with Bob Hope for two feature films and co-starred with Henry Fonda in the critically acclaimed, "Yours, Mine and Ours." Though she played a scatterbrained redhead, Ball was nothing of the kind in real life. Desilu Productions continued to grow and prosper under her leadership, ultimately acquiring RKO Studios, where both Ball and Arnaz had formerly worked as contract players. In 1967, she sold Desilu Productions to Gulf & Western for $17 million, netting some $10 million cash out of the deal. Ball remarried in 1968, taking Gary Morton as her second husband. Morton, a former comedian, worked with Ball to help create "Lucille Ball Productions." In the late 70s and early 80s, Ball made only sporadic appearances on TV, usually as the guest star. In 1985, she portrayed a New York homeless woman in the TV film, "Stone Pillow." Her last attempt at a new comedy series, "Life with Lucy," was a failure. Lucille Ball spent much of the rest of her life out of the spotlight. Her last public appearance was at the 1989 Academy Awards. One week after undergoing open heart surgery, on April 26, 1989, Lucille Ball suffered a ruptured aorta and died. She was 77 years old. Ball is survived by two children. Desi Arnaz died of cancer in 1986. Today, "I Love Lucy" is syndicated in more than 80 countries and remains one of the most popular and beloved TV shows of all time.

I spent a good 20 minutes of my life scraping excess words off of these chalky little hearts on Valentine's during a very bad expensive meal. This is the end result.

--------- YÊU LẠI TỪ ĐẦU ----------

" Hôm nay em trốn học." - anh nhắn tin cho nó.

Sao anh biết?" - nó rep lại.

Em đi đâu”?

Megastar.

SODALITY NEWS!!!

At last we have a decision! The eight Ladies who will be joining the Sodality of the Sisterhood Pleasure are as follows (listed in descending order of their rankings in the Sodality Trials last weekend):

1. Lady Caroline Darbyshire

The stunning Caro topped the scores in almost every event, finishing up with a dramatic win (jockeyed by yours truly) in the pony-girl races. A true megastar of aristocratic debauchery in the making!!

2. Lady Virginia Colt

A semi-final defeat to Lady Caroline Darbyshire in the pony-girl races was perhaps the only difference between the two of them for the outright win. A superbly fit and superbly sensual cuckoldress, Lady Virginia rocks our world, and has such amazing stamina! A very worthy runner-up!

3. Lady Lavinia Baverstock

The very definition of a good all-rounder, Liv didn't win any of the individual events, but made a huge impression on the Sodality judges in the special one-to-one sessions on Sunday evening. Lavinia also has wonderful drawing-room manners - no matter WHAT she is doing (or eating!!!)

4. Lady Penelope Stockbridge

The beaten finalist in the pony-girl races - and OMG did she take a beating (in fact, a right royal thrashing!) from her very eager jockey, Lady Octavia Wellington. Penny proved very popular indeed in the one-to-one sessions with the existing Sodality members, and also extremely popular with our male testing teams.

5. Lady Celia Wentworth

This six-foot one-inch Amazon was surpisingly eliminated in the quarter finals of the pony-girl races, probably because the turns on the terraces at Lyndon Towers were too tight for her to really get up to a full gallop. But Cee showed amazing stamina and bottomless enthusiasm for every kinky activity we threw at her - all weekend!!

6. Lady Portia Sachs-Montague

The surprise package of the trials, Lady Portia showed that underneath her cool and continental 'Swiss Finishing School' exterior she is a true English vixen - with absolutely insatiable (not to mention bizarre!) appetites. A little small to do well in the more athletic events, Portia was extremely popular with our male testing teams, and also scored very highly in deportment and in drawing-room manners.

7. Lady Verity Ramsbottom

My original tip for outright victory has only scraped through in seventh place in the final results! Verity has made a name for herself already as Verity Whipsnade - the Miss Whiplash of the North - but failed to score more than middling marks as a sub in our dungeon sessions, and couldn't get round the course quite fast enough as a pony-girl!

8. Lady Elizabeth Crenshaw

Another good all-rounder, Liz scraped in by the skin of her teeth, ahead of a chasing group which included Lady Maud French, Lady Priscilla Coddington, Lady Henrietta Stones-Bacon and Lady Arabella Crump. Liz has the winning Sodality mixture of beauty, brains, breeding, style, stamina and sexual depravity - and will be a superb asset to our Sisterhood!

BTW, 'Pebbles' Stones-Bacon was extremely disappointed to finish eleventh - just outside the top eight - and her husband rather un-sportingly has talked about lodging a protest about some rough tactics from a competitor that may have caused his wife's elimination in the first round of the pony-girl races. But all of these ladies will be having a further chance to join the Sodality when we hold our "Rain Day Women # 12 & 35" repecharge events, in November.

Toodle Pip! - as we Sodality Ladies like to say!!

Yvon Deveault

Description in English and Dutch

English

In the 1980s and early 1990s, the Dutch drug market was flooded with the highly addictive and then very expensive drug heroin. Many people who had tried it a number of times , often after being inspired by the German book and movie ‘Wir kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo’ , were quickly addicted to the brown stuff and it was very hard to kick off. The first time use was the best experience of their lives. However, after that, that experience was never the same as the first time. Cities such as Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and Arnhem suffered a lot from this. In Nijmegen it was then also the case. At the Kronenburgerpark in the center of the lovely city of Nijmegen, street prostitution took place at night by mostly very young men and women. When a young Frank Boeijen drove past it one night, he was surprised to see a former classmate from his secondary school standing there. It turned out that she was a heroin addict and prostituted herself to make money. That image of the previously super sweet and extremely sympathetic schoolmate touched his soul deeply and the shock was extremely heavy. It inspired him to write the song Kronenburg Park. The song eventually became one of the most successful hitsongs in the history of Dutch music. A lot of people didn’t know what the song was actually about and that is because the lyrics are mysterious if you don't know the story behind it. The song made him a megastar, but unwillingly. He had a hard time coping with his star status. Sometimes the attention was too much for him. Nowadays he can finaly cope with the stardom and is one of the greatest artists that ever lived in The Netherlands. In Nijmegen he is a kind of hero. Following larger cities, community projects have been set up in Nijmegen to help the male and female addicts kick the habit and many have been given the opportunity to build a new life. There is nowadays not any nuisance in that area and the market price has gone down very much so that current users no longer have to steal or rob someone. Some of the addicted men and women from that time in Nijmegen sadly died of an overdosis. Trough the song this group of the night will never be forgotten, because once upon a time these people also had ideals and plans for the future like you and me. Frank Boeijen sang in the song 'Go out of that world' I say to you come into the world of Nijmegen and the Kronenburger Park. It's beautiful now and it is like a kind of paradise, but don't ask for directions, because everyone is still lost.

Nederlands

The first time use was the best experience of their lives. However, after that, that experience was never the same as the first time. Cities such as Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and Arnhem suffered a lot from this. In Nijmegen it was then also the case. At the Kronenburgerpark in the center of the lovely city of Nijmegen, street prostitution took place in the evening and at night by mostly very young men and women. When a young Frank Boeijen drove past it one day, he was surprised to see a former classmate from his secondary school standing there. It turned out that she was a heroin addict and prostituted herself to make money. That image of the previously super sweet and extremely sympathetic schoolmate touched his soul deeply and the shock was extremely heavy. It inspired him to write the song Kronenburg Park. The song eventually became one of the most beautiful hitsongs in the history of Dutch music. A lot of people didn’t know what the song was actually about and that is because the lyrics are mysterious, if you don't know the story behind it. The song made him a megastar, but unwillingly. He had a hard time coping with his star status. Sometimes the attention was too much for him. Trough the song these girls and guys of the night will never be forgotten, because once upon a time these people also had ideals and plans for the future like you and me. Frank Boeijen sang in the song 'Go out of that world' I say to you come into the world of Nijmegen and the Kronenburger Park. It's beautiful now and it is like a kind of paradise, but don't ask for directions, because everyone is still lost.

Could It be Magic, was a blockbuster hit for Barry Manilow, back in the Seventies, and also other artists who followed him with their own version, including Donna Summer, and boy band, Take That.

One special night five years ago, megastar Barry teamed up with Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow, both of Take That fame, for a one-off live performance at a charity television show featuring the single. The trio rocked the room.

If you’re reading this at home in the northern half of England or Wales or Scotland, the chances are you’re quite used to it. I’ll bet you’re forever bumping into the likes of Danson and Heaton gadding about on the fells, setting up their tripods in the middle of your compositions and doing a piece to their second camera as you wait for a cloud inversion at Loughrigg or for a rainbow to appear over Assynt. You probably sigh inwardly as you arrive at the summit of Great Gable or Pen y Ghent, only to find Popsys babbling on about why he hates tripods into a camera mounted on a tripod, or to stumble over Turner as he gushes excitedly about how “mint” the view is from here before tucking into the latest protein bar he's discovered at his local Aldi. At some point you’ll probably hear the name “Squarespace” being sung loudly as we get to the bit of the video where we check our Flickr feeds to see whether anyone has noticed our latest post yet. Statistically, the chances are roughly 50:50 that you’ll be a YouTube megastar yourself within twenty years. We’re the new Elvis impersonators you know. Probably.

I’d always found it strange that nobody had done this anywhere around my neck of the woods. Admittedly Nigel Danson had suddenly popped up in Cornwall a couple of times and then disappeared as quickly as he’d arrived. I’d once missed him by a single day at Godrevy as I later discovered. A few years ago, in a burst of enthusiasm, Lee suggested that we set up our own YouTube channel. But I pointed out that we all have faces best suited to radio and voices best suited to a vow of silence. Fortunately, he soon abandoned the idea. It involves enough effort just taking the photos, no matter exposing our ignorance to a discerning audience as we blunder through our flaw strewn workflows before standing on top of each other to take exactly the same shot. And while Nigel sits at a pristine desk before a state of the art screen to present his editing process, I’m currently surrounded by all of the soft furnishings from the van that have been brought indoors for the winter, with a very substandard canvas of Kirkjufell half poking out from behind the matresses that are propped up against the wall where it hangs. So while the notion of attempting to become the Cornish Nigel Danson seemed like a worthwhile pursuit for as long as nearly twenty-five seconds, I’m glad the idea was buried before anyone took it further.

More recently I was starting to feel that the fact we were being almost completely ignored was actually a rather good thing. Did we really want people with almost half a million followers inspiring a glut of new arrivals to appear in the places where we seek those quiet moments alone? Would the places that we think of as our own seem cheapened when they appeared on screen? The old sense of entitlement beats strongly in this Westcountry heart you see. I’m really not that good at sharing. I’m quite happy to go and take pictures in other peoples’ back yards after being inspired to do so by the same YouTube presenters of course, but when the boot’s on the other foot, how would I really feel about it?

And then, while I was away in Lanzarote, I noticed posts from Nigel Danson and Mads Peter Iversen showing pictures of Portreath, just five miles from where I live, waxing excitedly about a week they’d just spent in Cornwall with the tripod-phobic James Popsys. How had that happened? Later, I was watching videos of them in several of my favourite locations. Land’s End, Botallack and Godrevy all appeared on the screen in front of me. At Kynance Cove, Mads posed himself on exactly the same ridge where I’d persuaded Ali to stand enigmatically last January, saying he hadn’t seen the composition at all during his research. How rude! And I paid handsomely for his online Photoshop course (which I hasten to add has been worth every penny). How did I feel watching all of this? Well about the same as I did in the summer of 1982 when my former best friend started going out with the girl I’d had a terrible crush on for about three years but was too shy to do anything about it. Ok, slight exaggeration but you get the picture. I’m over it now.

What I did find interesting was whether their fresh eyes would pick out things that I’d previously missed in places I go back to at regular intervals. At Kynance they shot the stacks from the north side rather than the clifftops to the east where I always go, although I really wasn’t that keen on the results. At Land’s End Nigel took a photo of the Enys Dodnan Arch from the west, looking back to the place where I always set up for a sunset and catching some beautiful soft light in the process. Here at Botallack, Mads had gone walkabout among the ruins of the mine, taking shots of the kind that I did on my first visits here as a tog eight years earlier but have never bothered with since. I wasn’t feeling wildly excited about any of those shots, but it did at least remind me that there are other options there besides the obvious subject. And as for that subject, well here it is, taken last November when Lloyd was paying a visit to Cornwall. In fact this is where we first met him. Ironically, the shots I most liked from the visit of the three YouTubers were the “obvious” ones they’d taken of the Crown Houses, experimenting with different shutter speeds as low to the water as one dares to in this potentially perilous corner of the county. Maybe that’s why so many of us take shots of the same subjects in places like this despite the myriad of possibilities within easy walking distance. At least they didn’t find Kenidjack Castle. Otherwise they’d have been all over my own private headland looking south – the one that featured in my last post. Oh hang it, there goes the self entitlement buzzer again.

Well that’s it, the final post of 2022 from me, albeit with an image from 2021. It’s been a strange year in many ways, especially in the grand scheme of things. But personally, it’s been a very good twelve months, my first full year of being a man of leisure. The year I became a grandfather. A year I’ll look back on and remember for some wonderful adventures and a glut of photos that still remain to be edited and shared in these pages. Surely you didn’t think I’d finished the Iceland set yet did you? I'm barely a quarter of a way through them in fact. What 2023 brings remains to be seen. Maybe that trip to the northwest of Scotland at last. Who knows? Nigel’s invited me to Antarctica. Only sixteen thousand six hundred and fifty dollars and I’m not sure that includes flights to South America from Europe either. I might need to sell so many body parts as to bring my five a side football career to a grinding halt, and some of my team mates might think that to be a good thing, but just think of the pictures I could get! I hope you’ve got plans of your own, and I hope you get to fulfil them. May your SD cards be filled with magic and your vistas be bathed in stunning light. I’ll wish you a happy new year and see you again in 2023.

A ferry of Tallink outbound from Helsinki, Finland. It uses liquefied natural gas as fuel and was delivered on January 24, 2017.

This place is very special for me. A place where I bow down and ask the god to keep it safe and happy. This is the place I started my journey as a wildlife photographer. Along with INW (Indian Nature Watch) was great place learn the finer details of the craft. Then I moved to Canada and had to let go of this site.

Today the Indian Wildlife Photography world lost one its great maestro and megastar. Vijay Cavale SIR Rest in Peace. Thank you for all things you have done for us and thank you for the teachings.

The weekend Ed Sheeran fans from across the north were waiting for finally arrived, and surely delivered!. Ed Sheeran's Divide Tour came to Leeds' Roundhay Park for a two-night run, an extension to his Divide world tour.

With support acts The Darkness and Lewis Capaldi, the pop megastar performed for more than 150,000 fans in two much-anticipated shows. Sheeran, who was born in Yorkshire, chose Leeds and his hometown of Ipswich where he grew up, to perform the huge outdoor gigs.

This mornings walk in the cold, wind and gloom saw me at Brabyns Park, watching in awe at Marples latest "megastar"

I soon decided that I was really pushing my camera equipment in what turned out to be poor lighting conditions!!

A shutter speed of 1/2500 and ISO 6400 was the max i could push the kit and yet still get a reasonable picture -- if truth be told i would have preferred halving the shutter speed to at least 1/5000th to try and capture the "bullet" with total sharpness!!

It is a nice and clear day on the Baltic Sea where the basy hipping traffic is taking place during the summer season. There are boats of different sizes, and in this case, there is just a size difference between the vessels that make the busy sea.

I’m going to write a list this morning. Mostly because I can’t think of shit to write. But I feel the need to write something or people think there is something mentally wrong with me and I’m depressed or something. This couldn’t be further from the truth today! So . . .

1. I set a goal to own a home by the end of the year 2013. To achieve this goal, I plan on building my credit and not fucking that whole thing up. This is more of an organization thing than a money thing for me.

2. The latest artist I’ve discovered whose album will not leave my CD player: Black City by Matthew Dear. A wonderful blend of funk, pop, electronic, sex appeal, and dark twisting moody badassery all over this 2010 release. LOVE IT! Here’s the song I Can’t Feel and here’s the song Little People. Personally I don’t understand how this guy isn’t a megastar, his shit is fucking incredible.

3. I go back to work today after being on vacation for over two weeks. Fuck me. FUCK ME!

4. I want to go to at least 3 concerts this summer. Even if they are small venues playing lesser known artists, that’s fine.

5. I take a longer shower than you do.

6. I ran around in the drizzley rain yesterday snapping pictures with Chloe. I love that type of weather because it’s wet enough for people to justify umbrellas which make for awesome pictures. But it’s not bad enough that it’ll get me and my kid all fucked up.

7. Next major road trip: Yosemite at the end of April! Looking forward to that bit a lot!

8. I will not bring Chloe a few minutes late to school any more. I will not bring Chloe a few minutes late to school any more. I will not bring Chloe a few minutes late to school any more. I will not bring Chloe a few minutes late to school any more. I will not bring Chloe a few minutes late to school any more. I will not bring Chloe a few minutes late to school any more. I will not bring Chloe a few minutes late to school any more. I will not bring Chloe a few minutes late to school any more. I will not bring Chloe a few minutes late to school any more.

9. Do they actually sell condoms that are less than size XL? And if so, if you had a small cock, do you really sift through the merchandise and pick out the Mediums?

10. To the piece of shit who hit my car and left the scene of the MAJOR crime the other day, I want to rip your balls off and tear them to bits, throw them in a blender on LOW while they slowly shred up, and put them in the toilet and flush them down. If you’re a girl, replace balls with ovaries. Whoever you are, YOU SUCK!
