McLaren MCL33/Renault RE18 - McLaren Formula 1 Team - F1 - Formula 1 2018 Rolex British Grand Prix - Silverstone - Northamptonshire.
Taken at one of the Friday practice sessions at the British Grand Prix in 2018. This was at the Copse corner which is one of the fastest corners in the season calendar and, in my opinion, one of the best places to appreciate the speed and grip of an F1 car as they rapidly change direction. They can reach speeds of over 170mph around this corner and often spark as they go! The Friday practice sessions are a lot quieter than the qualifying and race days, a lot cheaper and also allow free roving grandstand access. I took this one stood at the back row of the grandstand.
I was looking forward to attending on the Friday again this year, but of course understandably there won't be spectators there this year. I shall look forward to going next year and will enjoy watching the highlights of the Austrian Grand Prix on TV later.
Thanks for viewing and have a great weekend :-)

It was driven in 2018 by double Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne.

McLaren's idea of becoming the best team after the three "untouchable" teams will have to be left for later. In Montmeló not only were behind the Haas and Renault but also they had serious problems to overtake Sauber drivers and lost too many time hindered by Ericsson and Leclerc. Yes, nothing to reproach Fernando whose performance in the race was again faultless.
Even though this car wasn't all that great (zero podiums and multiple DNFs), it's still amazing to see an F1 car up close.
