The Battleship game that we know of today debuted back in 1967. Back then it was just a board game. I believe (pictured) is a 1978 version.

Electronic Battleship debuted back in 1977. Talking Battleship debuted back in 1989.

The electronic version of Battleship that I had was from 1982, which basically is the same version. I think they just re-released it.

Battleship is known worldwide as a pencil and paper game which dates from World War I. It was published by various companies as a pad-and-pencil game in the 1930s, and was released as a plastic board game by Milton Bradley in 1967. The game has spawned electronic versions, video games, smart device apps and a film.
