On the road from Kaunas to Riga

The MAZ-537L, also known as the KZKT-537L, is a heavy ballast truck developed from earlier versions of the MAZ-537 and 535. It is used at airports to tow the largest aircraft. My model is a 1:40 scale truck from the late Cold War period. Its width is 9 studs. It features functional suspension and two steerable front axles.

Some photos of the build I displayed at this years brickshow. A couple photos with the background edited by the wonderful Jacqui again. Along with some videos showing the functions of the truck and trailer.

The truck itself is all wheel drive with front wheel steering. I wanted to keep the suspension as close to the real thing as I could with the independent suspension in the front and what I’m calling “seesaw” suspension in the rear. The truck is using the powered up system with 2 XL motors for drive, 1 M motor for steering and one M motor for the locking mechanism for the trailer hitch.

The trailer also has remote controlled functions using the power functions system. 1 XL motor for the lift arms and 1 M motor for the loading ramps.
