And THAT image proves it!!!
Always my FIRST meal when I go back. Yes, my dear friends, Belgium is NOT just famous for its chocolates… but we have the BEST chips in the world, hihi, some even say we, the Belgians, invented them, oohh yes!
You’ll find stalls and ‘fritures’ everywhere, you turn a corner and suddenly that tantalising sweet aroma tickles your nostrils, your mouth begins to water, irresistible, it is a cultural experience.
That, with a cool beer and some mayonnaise or sauce tartare (out of a jar, nono, NOT home-made), heavenly.
I always say, when I eat unhealthy (what I call yuk) then I go All the way= double yuk (two portions of the sauce), no, NOT the chips, I couldn’t, you have to savour them…
Hope this made you smile, have a fun day and thank you for visiting and everything, M, (*_*)

Ummm. Here. Well, one, anyway. From September, Mers-les-Bains. Normandy.
*And an aside: mayonnaise on French Fries - yay or nay?
This recipe I have calls for sweet, tart apples. These are not but they're apples These hail from Ohio - the last batch was from Michigan. The Michigan apples were the best.

This recipe was given to me by Joanna (Asia) Popinska who was my student while I was a tutor for the Literacy Volunteers of America. Joanna was an incredibly charming, gifted & talented individual - to the best of my knowledge she is still in Northeast USA and is now an accomplished artist, entrepreneur, incredible Mom and probably so much more I'm not aware of 20 years later.
Deviled eggs topped with roasted yellow peppers and a caper. It's all about making things your own way in the kitchen.
If you've never had lobster, you just won't understand . . .
If you grew up on *lobstah* you will be melting the butter right now!
Couldn't resist the ribbon!
She wanted to get dressed for dinner!
Bring on the seafood crackers and picks . . .
no bib necessary!
Although we have fresh lobster right around the corner at our wonderful seafood market, I'm still missing Maine. The cold waters are definitely a bonus for a *sweeter* taste!
Not sure I agree with all of these quotations,
but found them most interesting!
Lord Byron and I would never have gotten along!
"A woman should never be seen eating or drinking,
unless it be lobster salad and Champagne,
the only true feminine and becoming viands."
~ Lord Byron ~
Don't know if my European friends will agree!
I've never heard this before!
"Europe's the mayonnaise,
but America supplies the good old lobster."
~ D. H. Lawrence ~
I can TOTALLY relate to tearing a lobster apart, as it takes me at least an hour to totally devour one . . . but I've never had octopus!
"When I get through tearing a lobster apart,
or one of those tender West Coast octopuses,
I feel like I had a drink from the fountain of youth."
~ Joseph Mitchell ~
Asparagus is very popular in the Netherlands, Spain, France, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Italy, and Switzerland, and is almost exclusively white; if not, it is specified by the local language term for "green asparagus". White asparagus is the result of applying a blanching technique while the asparagus shoots are growing. To cultivate white asparagus, the shoots are covered with soil as they grow, i.e. earthed up; without exposure to sunlight, no photosynthesis starts, and the shoots remain white. Compared to green asparagus, the locally cultivated so-called "white gold" or "edible ivory" asparagus, also referred to as "the royal vegetable", is believed to be less bitter and much more tender. Freshness is very important, and the lower ends of white asparagus must be peeled before cooking or raw consumption.
Only seasonally on the menu, asparagus dishes are advertised outside many restaurants, usually from late April to June. For the French style, asparagus is often boiled or steamed and served with Hollandaise sauce, melted butter or olive oil, Parmesan cheese, or mayonnaise.
Tall, narrow asparagus cooking pots allow the shoots to be steamed gently, their tips staying out of the water.
During the German Spargelsaison or Spargelzeit ("asparagus season" or "asparagus time"), the asparagus season that traditionally finishes on 24 June, roadside stands and open-air markets sell about half of the country's white asparagus consumption.

Delightful Summer Luncheon, serves 3 or 4. (for 4, might want to add a green salad)
POTATOES: cut 4 medium-sized into bite-sized pieces, steam for ±10 minutes, until they're tender but not overcooked. (You may want to do this towards the end, so that they'll be slightly warm when you serve.)
LENTILS: cook 1/2 cup of either French or Green lentils according to directions, until they're 'al dente', definitely before they turn to mush.
SAUCE: this is where fun resides!
• 3 heaping tablespoons of organic mayonnaise
• 2 good teaspoons of Dijon mustard
• juice of 1/2 lemon
• splash of Maggi sauce
• dash of curry powder
• good splash of turmeric
• 1 garlic clove, smashed in a good crusher (or more, if you like)
• salt, pepper
(Here you might like to add some finely chopped herbs, like basil, garlic chives, or maybe even fresh rosemary, if you have them).
Whisk together well, let blend.
Then add some veggie seasoning:
• small stalk of celery, finely sliced
• a tablespoon of caper berries
• 3 small dill pickles, diced
• chilli: I used a medium jalapeño, about 4cm (1 1/2") long, finely diced with seed and the lot, and it was at the top level of my heat range. (You might like to use less, or eliminate the pulp and seeds. pickled jalapeños would be good, too...)
Let sit for as long as you can.
Blend in the lentils and potato, let the flavours soak into them for a while, and serve...
Any good wine, a substantial white or a red (as long as it's fairly light) would go well with this.
Eat these over-the-top burgers with a knife and fork or set out a pile of napkins. Add fresh crisp texture and flavor by mounding slaw atop the burgers. Another perfect summer grilling out recipe and a NFL must! Serve extra slaw on the side or save it for another day.

One of my favorite things about Charlottesville thus far is this sandwich from Bodo's, a local bagel bakery. It's an everything bagel with smoked turkey, Muenster cheese, lettuce and mayonnaise. The bagel is usually ever so slightly warm and squishy and the whole sandwich is awesome. In addition, it's pretty much the cheapest sandwich ever.
Lobster rolls are a favorite summer recipe. There is something about those New England split top hot dog buns, perfectly toasted and stuffed with mayonnaise laden lobster salad. This is the best lobster roll recipe ever with fresh, succulent, juicy lobster claws and lobster meat. A bite into the lobster and the crispy bun will transport you to New England on a hot summers' day. If you visited a typical lobster shack in New England, a lobster roll could easily cost $25 each, but made at home, this recipe cost about $20 for three!

It would seem that Gabrielle Hamilton knows what she’s talking about- using mayonnaise instead of butter in grilled cheese sandwiches.
Mine has some shredded mozzarella and asiago cheese, with some of the chives growing in a container out back.
Nothing beats a slack morning spent with some homemade sandwiches and a nice cup of coffee!
Mix flaked tuna with mayonnaise, pinch of salt and pepper. Spread tuna mixture on toast, top with thinly sliced cucumber and top with another slice of toast.
Home.
A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items on the table in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2" in diameter.
He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "Yes."
"Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter - like your job, your house, your car.
The sand is everything else. The small stuff."
"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued "there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal.
Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

For me, Sinko de Mayo is truly a day to celebrate. Few people have come to know the “true” story of the origin of Sinko de Mayo. It is my pleasure to set the record straight. A little known fact is that back in 1912, Mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, a huge cargo ship was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York. This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico but as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship encountered a huge storm and most of the cargo was forever lost. The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning which they still observe to this day. The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course as Sinko de Mayo. Go out on this day grab a couple of slices of Artisan Bread and a jar of your favourite Mayonnaise and have a party. You know I will!

i trimmed, my friend paul poked a camera in my face. he's talented, as he made me look mostly human and civilised, not the repugnant, crippled menace i am.
this is my other favourite of the shots, as it has clearly been photoshopped extensively to make me appear friendly. also, it would be a great pickup site profile shot. if the vaguely symmetrical human features aren't attractive enough, bears will still be lured in by the giant bucket of mayonnaise in the background. the don't be a creep warning still applies, creeps.
Indulge in the savory goodness of this Loaded Baked Potato Salad, a delightful blend of golden potatoes, crispy bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, zesty green onions, and fresh parsley, all brought together by the creamy richness of sour cream and mayonnaise. Every bite promises a flavor explosion!

William Shakespeare, English Dramatist Quotes
Born April 26, 1564; Died April 23, 1616
If to do were as easy as to know what were good to do, chapels had been churches, and poor men's cottage princes' palaces.
If we are marked to die, we are enough to do our country loss; and if to live, the fewer men, the greater share of honor.
If you can look into the seeds of time, and say which grain will grow and which will not, speak then unto me.
If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us shall we not revenge?
William Shakespeare
Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven.
William Shakespeare
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Beers
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers .
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.
The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children . Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.'
The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.'

Play in the background while you cum all over this picture of me at Rodeo Beach. Check out the little Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Isn't it cute?
1. Mayonnaise – Smashing Pumpkins
Classic 90's grunge rock band sensation gets heavy and light with this tune.
2. Cardinal Song – The National
This song is fucking beautiful. It basically comes in 2 parts, the beginning which is a very soft ballad and then toward the middle the violins kick in and I always find myself belting out the words myself in my car.
3. Hello Is This Thing On - !!!
This song reminds me running around tripping in the middle of the desert at Burning Man. Perfect blend of electonica, funky meaningless lyrics, and a rockin' beat.
4. Shadrach – Beastie Boys
Don't let the posers tell you any different, Paul's Boutique is the Beasties best album, and this song is so funky you'll find yourself with your dick (or your clit) in your hand by the end.
5. Police and Thieves – The Clash
From the major punk influences first album, this catchy little tune will find you tapping your foot no matter how hard you try not to.
6. Mongoloid - Devo
Known for their one hit wonder "Whip It", these masters of new wave came out with cute song before. Synthesized goodness!
7. New Wu – Raekwon
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Pt. 2 might be the best rap album I own, every song is fucking incredible. This is just one song, but really you could choose any.
8. Metal – Gary Numan
Numan's first album Pleasure Principle is a MUST-OWN for any 80's new-wave fans. This song is the highlight off of it. Corny but danceable and VERY listenable.
9. Hickory Wind – The Byrds
When the Byrds released Sweetheart of the Rodeo in 1968, it was maybe the first album that transcended country music and rock music; the first country rock album. This song is a taste of that.
10. La Rock 01 – Vitalic
This song will completely kick your ass if you aren't prepared for it, electronic heavy rock that makes you feel like you gotta get up and fuck.
11. I Hate You – The Monks
Underground 60s garage band The Monks produce this fun little beachy tune.
12. Lasso - Phoenix
Indie Pop makes you happy to be alive!
13. Through My Eyes – The Creation
Produced during the British Invasion of the 1960s, this song is a good taste of that era.
14. PaintBox – Pink Floyd
Again, the 1960's underground psychedelic era produced a band called Pink Floyd. This is my favorite of the Syd Barrett era floyd years. The video here is actually a 60's original. This doesn't sound like any Floyd you have ever heard on the radio. This song is amazing.
15. Tainted Love – Soft Cell
One hit wonder Soft Cell comes at you with an incredible new wave hit.
16. Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway – Wilco
Country Alt-Rockers Wilco produce a song that makes you want to go out and see the world and fall in love and all that happy horseshit.
17. Head – Prince
FUNK FUNK FUNK FUNK FUNK, need I say more? Early 80's Prince defined the word.
18. Walk in the Park – Beach House
From one of my favorite albums of 2010 called Teen Dream, this band reminds me a lot of Metric. This song is progressive and catchy and a good listen, love. Interesting video too, crazy lyrics.
19. Hold On Tight – Electric Light Orchestra
Corny ass band, but a fun song that makes you want to smile.
Again, in case you missed it, the entire playlist is presaved on youtube, click this link to hear all 19 songs.

Simply southern - white bread with lots of mayonnaise, a few slices of tomato, and lots of black pepper. Cover with another slice of fresh white bread spread with lots of mayonnaise and you have a Tomato Sandwich. My husband picked the first tomato from his garden yesterday. Summer 2015 is on the way. (Morgan County, Alabama) - For those of you who are not "impressed," I have posted a hot air balloon photo for you.
