Sometimes you open your eyes and you find that things aren't really what they seem. Understanding the mystery of the Matrix then enables you to create.

Matrix Climbing Wall at Sheffield University..
"Small, naturally featured/textured bouldering wall with many bolt-on holds and campus board. Open to the general public. Whiteboard with marked problems, using font grades. Problems are reset aproximately every six weeks, or longer depending on university semester dates. Opened in October 2002"
This matrix for casting type on a Linotype or Internet machine depicts a sort of flattened 3D view of a lever for a voting machine. It’s a little hard to conceptualize. A similar lever can be found in the Mergenthaler Linotype specimen book, Linotype Faces: archive.org/details/specimenbooklino00merg/page/890/mode/...

MATRIX-RANGE
This range came about using found objects collected while walking, objects that seemed interesting enough to be re used to create texture or form. I picked up bolts; buttons; an old pricing stamp; parts of an old type writer and computer parts. Our studio is situated in an industrial area and my work within this range reflects industrial elements hence I refer to myself as a chameleon artist.
