A couple of shots from today.

From the sign:

"The mate's cabin represents the living quarters of the ship's officer who took his orders from the captain and relayed them to the crew. This cabin and the saloon in general appear as they would have during the peak of emigration from England to New Zealand in the 1870s and 1880s. Personal belongings are sparse due to the limited available space. The mate led one of the watches, usually made the entries in the official ship's logbook, and often took part in celestial navigation. As was common for the officers and sailors, the mate generally sailed just one voyage in the Euterpe before signing aboard another ship."

The Star of India is a bark. She is 212 feet long with a 35-foot beam. She was built in 1863.
