Night photo of a vintage truck from a decommissioned WWII airfield with night photographer. Light added from a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 flashlight during the exposure. This began as a cold windy night, and turned into an absolutely beautiful evening, and as a bonus, mosquito-free. This was the first photo of the evening, before the full moon rose from the horizon. Feel free to share.

Our mating pair of bald eagles, at Cherry Creek State Park, stay busy adding to their newest nest, bringing fish to the nest and making sure any eggs will be fertilized.
Male butterflies find females by sight, and use chemicals called pheromones at close range. If the female accepts the male, they couple end to end and may go on a short courtship flight. They may remain coupled for an hour or more, sometimes overnight. The male passes a sperm packet called a spermatorphore to the female. The sperm then fertilize each egg as it passes down the female's egg-laying tube.
A few insects seen yesterday, before the rain fell, using the sigma 105mm macro lens.
Again I managed to get these Ringlet butterflies mating with the sigma 105mm, I could only get part of one Ringlet in the frame with the MP-E, a great lens for extreme macro, if you don't frighten the subject away lol
Watched this guy for over an hour
the females were round him lying flat on the water
he then dove under and surfaced and began mating
at one point she was underwater for a while and then just her head visible

These were found on goldenrod in my back yard and brought into a studio dish for some detailed photos. The bright green color inside the abdomen on a couple of frames is interesting.
This interloper Caspian Tern is attempting to bribe a mating female to mate with him. Our beautiful world, pass it on
A little fun with the Damsel mating wheel I saw on Saturday. I love symmetry and reflections and just had to play! One of my favourite things in nature and a sight I'd never witnessed till I picked up a camera - I remember thinking "this happens every year and I've only just noticed!".
