Las Manolas de Semana Santa dan nombre incluso a procesiones . ‘Ser Manola’ en Semana Santa ‘era y es todo un honor’ para las mujeres que viven esta tradición.
La presencia femenina en la Semana Santa hoy es más igualitaria, hace tres décadas las mujeres no podían ser nazarenas como máximo se podía ser ‘Manola’ y acompañar a las procesiones. De mantilla negra Jueves, Viernes y Sábado Santo y de mantilla beige o blanca el Domingo de Resurrección.
A comienzos del XIX, en Madrid se hablaba de ‘majos’ y las ‘majas’, más tarde fue de, ‘Manolas y manolos’ o ‘chulas’ y ‘chulos’. Manolas y manolos formaban parte de pueblo de los barrios bajos, las manolas concretamente se distinguían por su estilo y gracia al vestir. Las crónicas describen que esas mujeres madrileñas combinaban descaro, con nobleza, desenfado y garbo.
Considerada de Interés Turístico Internacional, es una de las mas bellas de España.....

🇫🇷 Thirassía, , est une île qui forme avec quatre autres îles l'archipel de Santorin. Elle constitue les restes de l'ancienne île de Santorin qui est partiellement détruite vers 1600 av. J.-C. au cours de l'éruption minoenne.
L'île est composée de deux hameaux principaux :
•Kórfos, appelé aussi Órmos Kórfou, est le port de Thirassía. C'est à cet endroit que les bateaux en provenance des autres îles de l'archipel accostent. Les escaliers menant à Manolás débutent ici. Ils peuvent être gravis à pied ou à dos de mule. Quelques cafés, restaurants et hangars à bateaux sont alignés en bord de mer.

The island consists of two main settlements:
- Kórfos, also known as Órmos Kórfou, is the port of Thirassía. This is where the boats from the other islands of the archipelago dock. The stairs to Manolás begin here. They can be climbed on foot or by mule. The promenade is lined with cafés, restaurants and boathouses.

🇬🇷 Η Θηρασιά, , είναι νησί που μαζί με άλλα τέσσερα νησιά αποτελούν το αρχιπέλαγος της Σαντορίνης. Πρόκειται για τα απομεινάρια του αρχαίου νησιού της Σαντορίνης, το οποίο καταστράφηκε εν μέρει γύρω στο 1600 π.Χ. κατά τη μινωική έκρηξη.
Το νησί αποτελείται από δύο κύριους οικισμούς:
- Ο Κόρφος, επίσης γνωστός ως Όρμος Κόρφου, είναι το λιμάνι της Θηρασιάς. Εκεί ελλιμενίζονται τα πλοία από τα άλλα νησιά του αρχιπελάγους. Από εδώ ξεκινούν τα σκαλοπάτια προς τη Μανωλάδα. Μπορούν να ανέβουν με τα πόδια ή με μουλάρι. Μια σειρά από καφετέριες, εστιατόρια και λεμβοστάσια πλαισιώνουν την παραλία.

Spiny Forest Ifaty
Our initial goals were the Cuckoo-roller, the Ground Rollers, the Couas, and the Mesites.
Of the Mesites, there are only 3 species, and we saw and photographed all 3; however, capturing the Brown Mesite was very challenging, and we couldn't get publishable photos.
This one was relatively easy, thanks to our guide Manola from Magalasya Travel, who found it perched in this typical Spiny Forest vegetation. It remained still the entire time we were there, so the (hundreds of) photos all look almost the same because the terrain and spiky vegetation didn't allow for different compositions/views.

[Eng / Esp.] Processed with Color Effex Pro on LR to enhance the transparency of the veil (mantilla) and with Define 2 to reduce noise in the darkest areas. After a few test shots with the preceding manolas I waited untill she got next to a public lamppost so that I could get sortof kicker light on her hair. I didn't expect her to turn around but she realized I was taking the picture (quite logical when you are shooting with a 70-200 2.8!) and the resultant lighting was close to a Rembrandt scheme. Along with her stance and look, this makes me appreciate this picture in a special way, in spite of the bokeh, which leaves a lot to be desired. / Procesada con Color Effex Pro sobre LR para destacar la transparencia de la mantilla y con Define 2 para reducir el ruido en las zonas más oscuras. Tras unos disparos de prueba con las manolas precendentes, esperé hasta que ella quedó próxima a una farola para conseguir algo parecido a una luz de recorte sobre el pelo. No esperaba que se girara, pero se dio cuenta de que la estaba fotografiando (bastante lógico disparando con un 70-200 2.8) y la iluminación resultante quedó bastante parecida a un esquema Rembrandt. Junto a su empaque y mirada, esto hace que esta foto me guste especialmente, a pesar del bokeh, que deja mucho que desear.
Las llamadas "Manolas". Mujeres ataviadas con su mejores galas (generalmente de negro) y que en su cabeza lucen, teja y mantlla.
Las "Manolas" son toda una tradición es España, en cualquier acto religioso (católico) de cierta importancia.
En esta ocasión la imagen corresponde a la Procesión Final de las Fiestas en Honor a la Stma y Vera Cruz de Caravaca.

The nightjars were not originally part of our target list, but we ended up photographing the only two species that occur in the country, both of which are endemic, like almost all the birds in Madagascar.

Ο “ Μανώλας“ στην Αγία Κυριακή
“Σ’αυτό το μαγαζί,ρε γυναίκα,θα έπινα ένα τσιπουράκι»!
Απόρησα…κι εγώ ο ίδιος που το ξεστόμισα η,δε, σύζυγος έμεινε εμβρόντητη αφού γνωρίζει ότι
δεν είμαι καθόλου του “έξω” (ποτέ για “καφέ “ και σπανιότατατατατατατα για φαΐ).
Αλλά ο “ο Μανώλας“,τουλάχιστον εμφανισιακά,πρέπει να μπεί στα λεξικά και τις εγκυκλοπαίδειες ως υπόδειγμα δίπλα στο λήμμα ”μερακλής”!
Τι να πρωτοθαυμάσει κανείς;
Το υπέροχο και έξοχα διατηρημένο πέτρινο σπίτι στο ισόγειο του οποίου στεγάζεται;
Τις-ΕΠΙΤΕΛΟΥΣ- ξύλινες με ψάθινο κάθισμα καρέκλες οι οποίες θα έπρεπε διά νόμου να επιβληθούν σε όλους τους παραδοσιακούς οικισμούς γλιτώνοντάς μας από την πρακτική ”βαρβαρότητα” του πλαστικού;
Τον ιδανικό χρωματικό συνδυασμό στην επίπλωση και τα τραπεζομάντηλα;
Τις χειροποίητες επιγραφές-ζωγραφιές στους τοίχους και χρωματικές διακοσμήσεις στα πιθάρια,στα σωσίβια και τις γλάστρες;(στην Αγία Κυριακή,ειρήσθω εν παρόδω,υπάρχει μεγάλη παράδοση στις χειροποίητες επιγραφές)
Όλα τα ανωτέρω ήταν αρκούντως ελκυστικά για να με κάνουν να…υποκύψω θεωρητικά και εκ του ασφαλούς βεβαίως-βεβαίως αφού η ώρα ήταν 9:20κι εμείς είχαμε ήδη τελειώσει την επίσκεψή μας και αποχωρούσαμε(μετά τις 9:00 το πρωί το καλοκαίρι δεν φωτογραφίζω σχεδόν ποτέ)
Το χρωστάω όμως…

I abstained ... myself too, who was unleashed, and my wife, was embarrassed knowing that
I am not at all for "out" (never for "coffee" and very rare for food).
But "Manola", at least in appearance, must enter dictionaries and encyclopaedias as an example next to the "lemma" connoisseur!
What to admire first?
The lovely and exquisitely preserved stone house on the ground floor of which is housed?
The- FINALY - wooden chairs with straw-chairs that should be imposed by law in all the traditional settlements, escaping the practical "barbarity" of the plastic?
The ideal color combination in furnishings and tablecloths?
The handmade inscriptions wall paintings and color decorations in the jars, life jackets and pots (I can tell in passing, in Ayia Kyriaki there is a great tradition in handmade inscriptions)
All the above were quite attractive to do me ... I succumb theoretically and of course certainly - certainly after the time was 9: 20and we had already finished our visit and we were leaving (after 9:00 in the morning in the summer I do not almost never photograph )
But I owe it ...

Semana Santa Zaragoza 2015
Es por Semana Santa, cuando vemos a muchas señoras y señoritas vestidas elegantemente de negro con mantilla y peineta en las procesiones. Se las llama "Manolas" en algunas partes de España y representan a las mujeres de luto que lloran la muerte y celebran la resurrección de Cristo; dependiendo de la fecha, lo hacen con mantilla negra --Jueves Santo, Viernes Santo y Sábado Santo-- o con mantilla blanca o cruda --Domingo de Resurrección--.

Au début du XVIe siècle, l'île passa en dot dans la famille vénitienne des Pisani. De 1508 à 1537, Adriana Crispo, arrière-arrière-petite-fille de Francesco Ier Crispo et épouse d'Alvise Pisani, fut la dernière dame de Thirassía avant l'ère ottomane

Manolás est le seul village de l'île, situé au sommet des escaliers venant de Kórfos. Il est relativement bien préservé du tourisme de masse. Ses petites maisons blanches typiques de l'archipel sont construites au sommet de la caldeira le long des rues piétonnes de la localité. La vue sur les autres îles de l'archipel est spectaculaire.

At the beginning of the 16th century, the island was given as a dowry to the Pisani family of Venice. From 1508 to 1537, Adriana Crispo, great-great-granddaughter of Francesco I Crispo and wife of Alvise Pisani, was the last lady of Thirassía before the Ottoman era.
The island has undergone little development and can give an idea of what Santorini was like before tourism took off; you can enjoy the same spectacular views of the caldera.

Manolás is the only village on the island, at the top of the stairs coming from Kórfos. It is relatively untouched by mass tourism. A estas mujeres vestidas de nego y que portan como complento la típica mantilla, se las llama popularmente "Manolas" y suelen estar presentes en la mayor parte de actos religiosos que se celebran en España.

Colorín, colorado. La tarde del Domingo de Resurrección ha sido hermosa: hemos estados rodeados de belleza, y admiramos la belleza, vivimos para la belleza enredada en las palabras, en los rostros, en las canciones. Hemos tenido la oportunidad de contar con cinco maravillosas hermanas de mantilla que han posado para la cámara de César –gracias a Paula, Ruth, Celia, María y Yolanda- y me han hecho aparcar, por unas horas, el dolor de la ausencia.
Este domingo es día de recuerdos, de balance y despedida. Los hermanos del Ecce Homo han recordado a sus difuntos en un acto en la iglesia de San Felipe, muchos cofrades hemos subido al cementerio con flores de nuestros pasos para que los que ya no están sepan que siguen entre nosotros, y hemos dicho adiós a Cristo, ya Resucitado, al perderse por el Coso.
Esta Semana Santa, a pesar de nubes, borrascas y malos augurios, ha merecido la pena: por la familia, por los amigos de siempre, por las nuevas amistades que forja la Semana Santa y ojalá sean imperecederas, por las anécdotas, las emociones, las vivencias, los recuerdos, lo aparentemente olvidado y que emerge en plena noche…
A la hora de la cena soy uno de tantos cofrades que han descubierto nuevos músculos, nuevos huesos en mi anatomía: me duele todo el cuerpo, como a vosotros. Mañana será lunes, Lunes de Pascua: momento de despertar al alba, sonreír y emprender un nuevo camino: el que nos llevará a la Semana Santa 2012.
