Male Purple Martin at Bombay Hook NWR.
Purple Martins are a fun challenge to photograph in flight - not only are they fast and small, but the light has to be at the right angle to show their iridescent feathers.

A high-key image of this handsome bird as it was feeding in some springtime grass.
The low perspective was a result of, you guessed it, me laying on my belly to be even with the bird's eye :)
Enjoy!

A male Painted Bunting contemplating the bird bath. They usually like to bath alone and will take their time, sometimes much longer than you would expect.

I have photographed this colorful male several times this winter. It is one of the few that I can distinguish from the flock.

A pair of Dippers are building their nest on an old bridge and I was watching this male frequently singing in midstream when the female was close by.On this occasion he raised his wings and started to shake as she flew passed.

I had an amazing couple of days stay at Elmley Nature Reserve, with a few close encounters with Marsh Harriers during this stay. It was absolutely awesome to see them so close and in lovely light for a change. This gorgeous Harrier was resting in a dip in long grass and I didn't see him until I passed by and he flew up. Rather than fly away as I'd expected he flew around the same spot for a few seconds allowing me some special images 23.06.23

I have often wondered how these diminutive raptors actual don't break every bone in their own body catching birds this size !
Thank you for taking the time to view.
My best regards .. Martin
