I switched out a few of Evan's animal magnets last week. We have a whole box of them, but I'm limiting him to 8 at a time so we don't lose track of too many. Focusing on animals he knows sounds for, I got out the cow, pig, sheep, and lion.

Monster Magnet is an American rock band. Hailing from Red Bank, New Jersey, the group was founded by Dave Wyndorf (vocals and guitar), John McBain (guitar) and Tim Cronin (vocals and drums).
Monster Magnet's style is heavily influenced by 1970s space rock such as Hawkwind, and proto-metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, Captain Beyond and Sir Lord Baltimore. In addition to recording covers such as Black Sabbath's "Into the Void" (Master of Reality, 1971) and Hawkwind's "Brainstorm" (Doremi Fasol Latido, 1972), Wyndorf sometimes incorporated elements of space rock staples into his own songs. For instance, the Dopes to Infinity title track borrows some of its lyrics from "Lord of Light" (ibid.), and Superjudge's "Twin Earth" is a reinterpretation of Captain Beyond's "Mesmerization Eclipse" (Captain Beyond, 1972). The main guitar riff to the track Dopes To Infinity is lifted from The Sir Lord Baltimore song "Woman Tamer" (Sir Lord Baltimore,1971). The band has also cited British new wave / post-punk band Depeche Mode as an influence on its music. They have also covered "Black Celebration" for a 1998 Depeche Mode tribute album.
This is my favorite shot of this shape. The reflections on the inside are amazing, and the teardrop shape of the magnets just blows my mind.
This was made by wrapping up and down a bunch of Wrapped Icosagon cores when the shape only has its first layer added on. The cores are stacked on top of each other, allowing for a wrapping up and down the length of the column. It's quite easy to do and I might make a tutorial for this if asked.
I was actually extremely pleased with this shape. I LOVE the curves of this. It only takes a few minutes to make, yet looks lovely.

An electromagnet heads up the Mississippi near St. Louis. The electromagnet is heading to the Fermi labs outside of Chicago Illinois.
By using the 'ferrofluid' with a strong magnet, one is able to see the magnetic 'lines of force' eminating from the rare earth magnets held below the dish containing the liquid.

Originally from Mt Victoria in Wellington, Mike Gregory came back to N.Z. from the U.K. in late 1997 after 25 years in London, working mostly in advertising and publishing. He remembers arriving late in the week, to a sparsely furnished house he had rented out for many years, and a fridge full of food and drink – no magnets though. After four days of ‘torrid catching–up’ he woke heavy of head and a small extensile crisis brewing….what to do, what to do? He was sure he didn’t want a regular J.O.B. From that first thought and a couple of aborted start-ups, a unique, small N.Z. business emerged, with a range of fun, ever-changing products that are as easily deliverable across the world as they are across town. How it was done: Used Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS6 Aperture Priority mode and maxed it to F6.3. Held camera in right hand, framed the house area, held MagnetMan in left hand, adjusted scaling position using arm's length distance away from camera in LCD view (further=smaller, closer=bigger), free positioned it sitting above the bench in the field of view, made sure all was in focus and frame, then took shots. Challenge was not using any stationary arm guides nor tripod. Everything shot handheld using 4:45pm natural light.
