Daily Photo - The RAW Fireworks (and yes, that is a handheld single shot)
So, I have in my hot little hands an Advance Copy of Photomatix Pro 4.0 (BTW, the STUCKINCUSTOMS Coupon Code will still save you the most money). Wow this thing is cool! I'm in the middle of a full review/preview. This isn't really it... just a preview of a preview. I know... how lame of me, but I am so excited that I want to leak out a few details.
Today's fireworks photo below from Disney World a few nights ago was just processed with Photomatix 4. This is from a single RAW photo. This was a handheld shot as I was walking along a pathway near the Crystal Palace. Amazing, eh?
Well, I can't take all the credit - so much goes to Photomatix Pro. Here are a few points for you to chew on:
There is all new Noise Reduction code in there... a fresh dialog appears when loading a RAW photo like this one.
If you already own Photomatix Pro 3 (or buy it now), the upgrade to Photomatix Pro 4.0 is FREE. (cool!)
There is a new way to control ghosting... very nice.
So far in my testing, it's way way way faster than Photoshop CS5's new HDR feature. But I am still testing with metrics... full results soon.
Two Weeks in Iceland!
Watch for me Live on This Iceland Webcam. I should be strolling in and out of those from time to time.
On stuckincustoms.com, you can see some of my upcoming notes from the trip. I'll be focused on the coasts with a concentration on the fjords in the northwest part of the country. We are getting close to 24 hours of daylight, so I think this will be an amazing time to go. If you have any suggestions or recommendations, feel free to let me know!

Full Photomatix 4.0 Preview
I'll be sure to post it when it is ready on the Photomatix Review page. Actually, even better than a preview, I will do a quick head-to-head with Adobe Photoshop CS5. It's all pretty much complete... just want to get a few more metrics for you.
I would like to get it up this weekend... not sure - a lot of busy stuff lately!
The clubhouse of the Academy of Magical Arts, is private, allowing entrance only to members and their guests, or through courtesy invitations which are available to magicians visiting from out of the United States.

Califia's Magical Circle is the only American sculpture garden and the last major international project created by Niki de Saint Phalle (born in France, 1930 to 2002). Inspired by California's mythic, historic, and cultural roots, The garden bears the brilliant, unique mosaic ornamentation that is an unmistakable part of Saint Phalle's later work.
Free and open to the public but with very limited hours so check before you go as it is protected by a large iron fence you can barely see through. When its open you can freely walk around. It is very child like though it is not a play scructure.

The private club for professional magicians worldwide sits atop a Franklin Ave hill, behind the hubbub of Hollywood & Highland. The Hollywood mansion, built 1909, became The Magic Castle in 1963, home of the Academy of Magical Arts. [#7 in album of 21]
There are only four or five Châteaux in France with a history like Château Marzac, which is classified as "Monument Historic" in France and by Unesco as "World Heritage". The Estate consists of the historical castle, a 16th Century Dove Cot and a Chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas.

HDR photo. The Magic Castle is a Hollywood landmark. The building is an authentic Victorian mansion built in 1908; it was taken over in 1963 by Milt Larsen, who converted it to its present state. The Magic Castle houses the Academy of Magical Arts and is also known for its Junior Program (the Magic Castle Junior Group). The Junior Group comprises highly skilled young magicians, many of whom have gone on to be well-known performers and professionals.
The Castle, located in the hills above Hollywood, is the most famous magic club in the world and is the destination for local and visiting magicians.
This Victorian mansion has been turned into a private clubhouse and performance venue for the Academy of Magical Arts.

Went to the Magic Castle Monday night and saw some terrific magic. It's a private club for magicians and a friend of a friend was performing. He's a close-up magician and did some amazing tricks with that five of hearts in the pic.
We were invited by our friends Steve and Rebekah, who also invited another couple, Erin and Dan. It turns out that Erin is an actress and starred in the upcoming mini-series of Little House on the Prairie. If that sounds familiar, it's because fellow Flickrite Shadowplay posted an amazing set from the shooting of the very same movie! In fact, I think this might be her, unless there was more than one tall redhead on the set.
