Crazy Tuesday: "Song Title" theme

"I Am the Walrus" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 television film Magical Mystery Tour. Written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon-McCartney, it was released as the B-side to the single "Hello, Goodbye" and on the Magical Mystery Tour EP and album," according to Wikipedia.

I photographed the cover of my copy of the album and used a modified version for the background here. With apologies to the Beatles, I had to remove the Beatles name from the cover as well as the Fab Four themselves dressed in animal costumes in order to make room for yours truly. :-) Thanks to Jay Ruzesky on Unsplash for the Walrus photo used in making this image.

Well on the way, head in a cloud

The Man of a Thousand Voices talking perfectly loud

But Nobody ever hears him

Or the sound that appears to make,

And Nobody ever seems to notice

From the Blue Album, AKA, the Magical Mystery Tour.

That was totally random. I was looking for a catchy name relating to the blue sky. I googled, "Blue Lyrics" and discovered that The Magical Mystery Tour was originally titled, "Blue". And, "The Fool On the Hill" somehow fit the photo. He is wearing the uniform: cotton shorts and T-shirt with cigarettes and 8 oz. of water in the pockets. This is what they wear when Search and Rescue bring them in.

A fabulous wild flower, sitting high among the tall grasses at the edge of the spinny at the bottom of the Devils Kneading Trough, Wye botanising at it's best....

The forms of these giant thistles make such an impressive site at Wye Downs...

A smal chink in the clouds and a Kent Bee Orchid on our walk along the path through the Devils Kneading Trough, a nice find....and if you are stuck for a walk, beautiful views and wild flowers including Orchids, Early Purple, Common Twayblades, Common Spotted, Fragrant and Bee take a walk along this path through the "Kneading Trough"

The sun went as soon as it came and the rain fell again, hay-ho. Such a stunning wild flower, Agrimony on Wye Downs....

Macro Mondays ~ Beatles / Beetles

One of Kent favourites, the Bee Orchids, just coming to an end up on Wye Downs but still a stunning looking bloom in the rain....

View On White

From the brilliant Park Woods at Challock its off to the Wye Downs with endless views and beautiful vistas. Still raining and a little breezy up ontop of the Downs but the air was fresh. This particular area was used by the army to test tanks and artilliary where a sign on the gate warns vivistors that un-exploded bombs and shell can still be found! Hay-ho and off we go!

Described as the best view in Kent, not arguing but just along the road Postling and near me Boughton Valley are just as good but for open sky's and green field, not too shoddy. What made the view was a Spitfire and Hurricane flying wingtip to wingtip over the Kent Downs with the exquisite sounds of two perfectly in tune Merlins!!!!

Artwork from the original 1967 vinyl double EP. Bought as a teenager I am shocked to find it has been in my possession for nearly half a century, sighs, I cannot possibly be so old.

The illustration of the album was by Robert Michael "Bob" Gibson, who was born in Glasgow in 1938. He died in September 2010. Wikipedia.

p.s. Paul's "missing" arm is a feature of the original illustration, not my editing.

Day after day,

Alone on a hill,

The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still

But nobody wants to know him,

They can see that he's just a fool,

And he never gives an answer,

But the fool on the hill,

Sees the sun going down,

And the eyes in his head,

See the world spinning 'round.

Well on the way,

Head in a cloud,

The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud

But nobody ever hears him,

or the sound he appears to make,

and he never seems to notice,

But the fool on the hill,

Sees the sun going down,

And the eyes in his head,

See the world spinning 'round.

And nobody seems to like him,

they can tell what he wants to do,

and he never shows his feelings,

But the fool on the hill,

Sees the sun going down,

And the eyes in his head,

See the world spinning 'round.

Ooh, ooh,

Round and round and round.

And he never listens to them,

He knows that they're the fools

They don't like him,

The fool on the hill

Sees the sun going down,

And the eyes in his head,

See the world spinning 'round.

Bedford VAL coach URO 913E spotted somewhere in England on 20th July 2022. This would seem to be the The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour bus which spent some time in the USA. However, as with any film vehicle, disagreements about identity occur, so is this the real thing? The operator information currently displayed (see inset) is BK Reilly in Bootle.

Liverpool, Crosshall Street, 07/02/2000.

This is the old 1976 Dodge truck I used to own. I got it by sealed bid from a nearby town's utility department in 1991. I paid $109.27 for it. I bought the camper and put on it and used it to haul the equipment for a band I was in at the time called Mr. Speekeazy. After we'd unloaded the equipment at a gig, we could hang out in it, sitting around the table and use it as a sort of "Green Room" before we started playing. It had a fridge and a stove, and could sleep four. (The bass player even made out in it once.) We called it our tour bus, so that's why I painted "Magical Mystery Tour" on it. Plus, The Beatles are my favorite group.

That was a great old truck.

"Magical mystery tour" always makes me think of a *very* strange cartoon I saw as a kid, about a little boy called Milo (who drove a pink car) and his fantastic adventures - which had the song as its sound track.

"Go on a Magical Mystery Tour and Show us the Fun you Found" - Tavepong Pratoomwong

The Beatles original recordings were on black vinyl. Then in the 80's CD's took over but for the first time this year, black vinyl sales in the UK have seen a huge resurgence and have over taken CD sales once more to reach a 25 year high.

In this image are the original LP sleeves, a Capitol Records CD of the American Beatles "Second Album", two magnetic cartridges for record players and a stylus brush for keeping dust and hairs off the playing surface of the records. The Pixall "Off the Record" roller was a roll of lightly adhesive tape that when rolled over the surface of the LP's removed any surface dust or hairs and was very effective in keeping your records clean.

Black vinyl sales reach a record 25 year high again - "The Times They Are a Changing" - this time vinyl is making a come back.

And once again, Beatles albums are in the charts for the black vinyl resurgence.
