The machine hall is an object of outstanding quality in several respects: the steel framework building, erected in 1902/1903 according to the designs of the Berlin architect Möhring, represents the beginning of modern industrial architecture. Stylistically, it describes the transition from historicism and art nouveau to modernism. The preserved historical machinery - especially the electrical winding machine - is unique in Germany. The hall is famous above all for its Art Nouveau portal with its colored glazing. There is no other such portal in an industrial building in Europe.

Die Maschinenhalle ist in mehrfacher Hinsicht ein Objekt von herausragender Qualität: Der nach den Entwürfen des Berliner Architekten Möhring 1902/1903 errichtete Stahlfachwerkbau steht für den Beginn der modernen Industriearchitektur. Stilistisch bezeichnet sie den Übergang von Historismus und Jugendstil zur Moderne. Der erhaltene historische Maschinenbestand – insbesondere die elektrische Fördermaschine – ist einzigartig in Deutschland. Berühmt ist die Halle vor allem wegen ihres Jugendstil-Portals mit seiner farbigen Verglasung. Ein solches Portal gibt es kein zweites Mal in einem Industriebau in Europa.
It looks as if this machine comes from the early industrial era. Clearly electro plating was an important process needed in the railway workshops. This photograph is designed to reflect the grunge and grime of the period.

This is the air compressor for the building dry pipe sprinkler system. We need to order a new one.
The San Francisco Ferry Building. Designed in 1892, completed in 1898, architect A. Page Brown. The clock tower is 245 ft (75m) tall. The Ferry Building survived the 1906 earthquake and fire although most of this area was destroyed.

My old tv from the 80's. It now resides in the garage. It was from my first apartment and used it for a long time. It is very small. I can't imagine watching now with the giant screens of today !
