M42 - early in the season. M42 reached an altitude of only 20° as of 03h30m but I just couldn't resist or have the patience to wait until the winter months.

Taken with a Helios 102mm refractor on an EQ5-Pro mount and Canon 1100D at prime focus.
ISO-1600 120 sec exp
19 frames stacked using Deep Sky Stacker, with 20 darks and 10 flats giving a total exposure time of 38 minutes
Image processed using Photoshop CS2 with RC Astronomy Tools and Adobe Lightroom
A 90s luminescence exposure of M42 Orion Nebula, this was the first image grabbed whilst testing my new focuser and sequencing software set up. The focuser did a fairly good job at autofocusing, however it is clearly a soft focus.
