The Eurasian lynx, one of Europe's largest predators, has bounced back from the brink of extinction in Europe but it is still critically endangered in some areas.
The Eurasian Lynx is the largest lynx species, and has one of the widest ranges of any wild cat.
The increasing urbanization of western Europe, and the resulting loss of habitat and diminished prey base, have led to a severe reduction of the Eurasian Lynx population there.
Escalating deforestation, persecution as stock killers, and illegal poaching remain major threats to their future. They are heavily trapped for the fur trade across their range, and legally hunted in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia and Latvia.
Reintroduction programs have taken place in Switzerland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Italy and France. Studies have shown that Eurasian Lynx are quick to rebound if hunting pressures are lessened, and protected areas with good prey bases are set aside.

Ze leven vooral nog in afgelegen bergstreken met wat kreupelhout. In enkele bossen in West-Europa zijn opnieuw lynxen uitgezet. In Nederland is vooralsnog niet voldoende aaneengesloten bos voor een herintroductie. "WNF"

This lynx was a pleasant surprise. Until seeing this lynx, I did not know that lynx roamed up in the Arctic regions of Alaska. I was out looking for Arctic or Red Fox when I saw this Lynx walking across the tundra. At first, I thought it was a fox that I called "Stubby," because his tail was somehow lopped off so it was bobbed. As I put my long lens on it from far away, I was surprised to find out it was a Lynx. I stopped my truck and got out and started walking towards the direction the Lynx was walking. I came over a drift and the Lynx was about 30 feet in front of me walking away. I was sure it would run off but to my surprise, it turned towards me, sat down, eventually laid down, washed itself, and within an hour's time, it actually closed its eyes and drifted off to sleep.
I was so excited, that I forgot how cold it was until I turned to go back to the truck. I think I shivered all the way back to my camp.
An grown up Eurasian Lynx can jump 2,5m high and 7m long from where it stands (wihout running first).
This is a captive Lynx that due to human interference cannot be released back into the wild. It lives at Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Rousseau, Ontario. Such a beautiful cat...it should be roaming free...we need to do better as humans.

Es ist aber dann doch dieser Luchs hier geworden - das Bild ist noch aus dem Winter / Frühjahr, sodass die Färbung des Felles recht hell ist.
Ich mag es, wenn sie einen ansehen und auf einen zulaufen, das ist immer ein intensiver Moment.

Insted I chose this lynx here. The picture was taken in the winter / early spring, so the fur color is still pretty light.
It's always an intense moment when they look at you and move closer..

Lynx taken in northern Ontario 30 miles north of Cochrane Was a real joy finding this guy very healthy looking probably looking for hares and grouse just like me seen a dozen spruce grouse on this trip first lynx up there I've seen in over 20 years seen quite a few growing up with there kittens with them too LOOK at the feet on this guy really seen how they can run down hares in the snow

Ich habe heute Morgen in meinem Archiv geschaut und dort noch sehr sehr viele Luchsbilder gefunden.. eigentlich zu schade um sie "verstauben" zu lassen.
Ich mag Luchse sehr und freue mich immer wieder, wenn ich etwas Zeit bei ihnen verbringen kann.. meistens wird dies auch belohnt.
Hier auf dem Bild ist noch ein einige Wochen altes Jungtier..
Früh übt sich.. langsam schlich dieser kleine Luchs durch das Unterholz und war dabei gut getarnt.. bis zu dem Moment, wo er den Kopf nach oben streckte.. :-)
The LYNX is a coastal and harbor tug that was built in 2018 and is sailing under the flag of the Netherlands. It’s carrying capacity is 175 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 4.5 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 28.67 meters and her width is 9.8 meters.

Certainement le félin le plus menacé au monde, la libération de 340 petits lynx dans la péninsule ibérique au cours des douze dernières années aura permis le rétablissement de ce félin. C’est surtout en Andalousie qu’augmente le nombre de lynx. Selon le dernier recensement publié par le ministère de la Transition écologique, le lynx ibérique a connu une forte croissance au cours de la dernière décennie : 522 petits sont nés à l'état sauvage en 2021, un record pour la population du lynx ibérique en Andalousie
Le lynx pardelle, plus connu sous le nom de lynx ibérique, qui était au bord de l'extinction, voit sa population augmenter chaque année. On compte déjà 1 365 spécimens, selon le dernier recensement publié par le ministère de la Transition écologique
Les efforts déployés en Andalousie pour préserver cette espèce menacée portent leurs fruits. En 2002, la population de lynx dans la région atteignait à peine un total de 94, concentrés dans les zones de Doñana-Aljarafe et Andújar-Cardeña. Actuellement, les 522 spécimens enregistrés sont répartis sur un espace de plus de 1 600 kilomètres carrés, dans différentes zones et centres de population. Par rapport au total de la péninsule ibérique (1 365 spécimens), l'Andalousie en abrite 38,2%.
L'Andalousie reste la région qui compte le plus grand nombre de femelles reproductrices dans la péninsule ibérique, avec près de 44,8 % d'un total de 277. Ce chiffre est très important pour l'Union internationale pour la conservation de la nature (UICN), qui espère reclasser le statut du lynx d'"espèce en danger" à "espèce vulnérable". Pour cela, une condition indispensable doit être remplie, à savoir maintenir 125 femelles reproductrices pendant au moins cinq années consécutives.
Sur les 107 décès survenus l'année dernière, plus de la moitié de ces animaux ont été heurté par un véhicule. La dispersion des petits, à la recherche de nouveaux territoires, est à l'origine de ces décès.
la seconde cause de décès non naturelle pour ces félins est la chasse illégale. Aussi incroyable que cela puisse paraître, des lynx sont encore abattus ou tués par l'utilisation illégale de poisons et de pièges.
Auf ein Bild in dieser Art habe ich schon lange gewartet.. Es gehört sicherlich auch viel Glück dazu, aber an diesem Tag hatte ich ein gutes Gefühl. Es war wechselhaft und die Sonne kam immer mal wieder durch.. so auch hier: der Luchs saß dazu noch passend.. und in einem winzigen Augenblick fiel das Spotlight genau auf ein Teil des Gesichtes als er mich ansah. Ich habe 10 Bilder gemacht, dieses ist das einzige, wo die Sonne genau passt..
