Der Ausverkauf der schönen Heimat ist bereits voll im Gang:

www.ennstalwiki.at/wiki/index.php/Ausverkauf_der_Heimat

Continuing the theme of views in London which no longer exist, here's the scene back in August 2016, looking towards the St George Wharf apartment complex from the opposite bank of the Thames.

I think many would find this building pretty ugly, but it's become something of a touchstone for me as a recurring motif from my commute of the past 10-ish years to the Beeb, which goes through Vauxhall every day of the week.

Due to the unstoppable progress of building more and more luxury apartment blocks that mere mortals like me can't afford, this view is becoming slowly more and more cluttered with other buildings behind and to the sides. I'm glad I got a few clear shots whilst you still could ...

A little shot of the current developments around the St George Wharf area at Vauxhall. Slowly but surely the landscape is filling up with new towers month by month ...

St George Wharf is a riverside development in the London Borough of Lambeth, London, located on the southern bank of the River Thames beside Vauxhall Bridge. To the left you can see the SIS buildings (Secret Intelligence Service), also commonly known as the MI6 Building, is the headquarters of the British Secret Intelligence Service (otherwise known as "MI6"). It is referred to as Legoland and also as "Babylon-on-Thames" due to its resemblance to an ancient Babylonian ziggurat. Couldn't decide whether to get rid of this from the photo. Question of balance. left it in for now. Option for a crop on another day.

St George Wharf Tower is a residential skyscraper. It is 181 metres (594 ft) tall with 49 storeys, making it the tallest residential building in the United Kingdom.

Taken on a spur of the moment decision to get out with the camera. First visit was Canary Wharf where inspiration was lacking. Possibly because I lost my Ray Ban Aviators. Gutted!

Adjacent to the High Line. 520 West 28 St.

Amongst the most expensive, but the most unique facade; curves are all applied and not the structure! Perhaps carried over to some interior details besdies the curved surrounds to large expanse of windows. The only residential bldg. in NYC by late architect Ms. Zaha Hadid.

You see the rooftop of 75 Wall Street (Andaz), which I took photos from before. And much of the downtown Brooklyn is beind the tower (metrotech and etc)

Architecture - Embassy Haven, another view

One of my favourite images I've made this year.

Here is another example of a location to which I've made a return visit only one or two days after my initial attempts to photograph it.

This is a slightly different perspective on these new tower blocks which have contributed to the Canary Wharf skyline in the past couple of years.

I wasn't sure exactly what would be the best viewpoint, with my initial shots being taken from further away, in the Limehouse area on the north bank of the Thames looking south east.

This two minute exposure is my first long exposure shot in a long time, and the first with my Fuji X-T2. This is from the Durand's Wharf area looking slightly more closely to the buildings more in an easterly direction.

I got there early and tried a few different spots before settling on this one. I had to wait about 45 mins for the sun to gradually creep round to the right position and fall across the front of the towers. I particularly liked the light catching the triangular shaped apartment block towards the bottom of the image here, and also the shadow that same building is casting on the front of One Bank Street.

Again the principal subjects here are the three newer towers, from left to right at the front here - Newfoundland, One Bank Street and Landmark Pinnacle.

It's rare instance of an image that I had previsualised and the final thing came out pretty much as I'd hoped. Taken with the fabulous Fujinon 16-55mm f/2.8 lens in combination with 16 stops of ND filters ...

Solitair Brickell is a skyscraper located in the Brickell district of Miami, Florida, USA. It contains 420 apartments and is 555 feet (169 m) high with 48 floors,

The building was built in the place of a ramp to a parking garage to an adjacent 1980s office building known as the Brickell Bayview Center during a wave of high-rise residential development in the Greater Downtown Miami area in the 2010s.

Along Wilshire Blvd's luxury Condo Canyon in Westwood, Los Angeles.

This is another unusually-shaped building which I've seen in passing quite a lot recently whilst driving past on my way to work in the mornings.

I actually didn't think it would be possible to capture the entire building in a single frame as it's really quite massive, especially up close. But again thanks to the 17mm Canon tilt shift lens I just about managed to squeeze everything in. First time in a while using the lens in conjunction with a tripod as I've been more often hand-holding it for simplicity, but it's definitely easier being able to make small corrections with the camera locked off on a tripod.

The fine-lined texture of the outer shell of the building is a bit of a moiré-fest depending on your monitor resolution and zoom level, but I'm happy with what I managed to capture, even if I had hideous grey light. If I waited until there were better skies I might be waiting a long time. But having visited and recce'd all the angles I know where to set up if I return at some point.

It was designed by Foster + Partners, whose very unremarkable offices happen to be situated right next door ...

Victoria Harbour and Anchorage Buildings - Salford Quays - Greater Manchester, England.

The developing MediaCityUk in Salford Quays also include newly built residential luxury apartments like the ones you see here. The Victoria Harbour and Anchorage apartment buildings are located on the head of the Erie Basin.

Previously the site of Manchester Docks, Salford Quays has became one of the first and largest urban regeneration projects in the United Kingdom following the closure of the dockyards in 1982. Some of the first developments were residential consisting of traditional low-rise flats and town houses but lately, more high-rise buildings have been constructed to increase housing density on the naturally limited pier space. Because of this premium on space, apartments have also been constructed on the opposite side of Trafford Road to the Quays.
