Latrabjarg, Iceland.

Here is another puffin shot taken with my old crappy camera in Iceland many years ago. Latrabjarg is a 450 m high, very steep cliff and the puffins sat at the very edge. Walking was not safe because of the many rabbit holes and the risk of stumbling and falling down the cliff. So I lay down flat on my stomach and crawled to the edge. Then, lying prone with my hubby sitting on my legs to prevend me from dropping down, I watched the puffins and took the photos with my old 24-105 mm lens.

Latrabjarg, Iceland.

This photo was taken many years ago, with a crappy camera, but it is a very happy memory (which is my main reason for taking photos): It was the first time I got very close to puffins and I was in heaven.

What do you do with your grainy early work? Do you cringe when you look at it? Is it hidden on some external hard drive and forgotten?

Utan båda skulle jag inte vara den jag är ~ Without both of them I would not be who I am ~ Måtte båda få leva i symbios och harmoni länge än ~ May both of them live in symbiosis and harmony for very long ~ och skogen öppna sin famn för hagar, lundar och ängar ~ and the forest open its' arms for fields, groves and meadows.

Sorry that I have not visited yet, problems to sit for long because of ache in my back, passing and temporary, sciatic nerve, and soon it will be over.

Wish you a lovely weekend!

The rock sculpture Reynisdrangar at Vík in Mýrdal, south coast Iceland. September 2010.

Horft yfir Reynisdranga í Mýrdal, sem stingast eins og nálar upp úr hafinu. Það hljóta að teljast forréttindi að vera sjófugl og eiga þessa dranga sem heimili. September 2010.

" He´s not making any sense, so I´m walking away...."

I've always wanted to photograph this large amount of primroses on a hillside close to the road along the coast of Jæren, since I first saw them some years ago. And finally I climbed over the fence and did so two days ago ツ They smell like heaven!

I've never seen such large amount of primroses any other place. Where I'm from they've almost disappeared since I was a child = /

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%B3ndrangar

Lóndrangar are a pair of single sharp and steep cliffs, or volcanic plugs of basalt, that have been hewn out from softer surrounding rock by erosion. At 75 m and 61 m respectively, they are a singular sight, rising above and outside the ocean front due east across from Malarrif and some 10 km from Hellnar, on the southern coast of Snæfellsnes peninsula. History has it so that the taller of the cliffs was ascended in 1735, while the smaller one was left alone longer and not climbed until 1938, or so the story goes.[citation needed]

Lóndrangar are a pair of volcanic plugs left out as remnants from a bigger crater, which has since mostly eroded away with time. It is reckoned though, that the rock in the slopes of nearby Svalþúfa is an isolated part of the original rim around the crater itself, with the rest eroded away by the sea. There is some considerable nesting of birds in the steep slopes of the twin cliffs and various kind of birds can be observed in Lóndrangar, the majority of which are Black-legged Kittiwake, Langvía, lundar and fýlar. Awhile back[when?] the coastal area around Lóndrangar, Drangsvogur, would be used for the landing of fishing vessels with 12 fishing boats making use of it as a natural harbor in its heyday.

It’s lovely times here north up yonder

when spring will start to flow,

and once more like a holy wonder

life from death will grow.

Facts about the Atlantic Puffin:

Size: 25 cm (10 in)

Weight: 500 g (17.5 oz)

Average life span in the wild: 20 years or more

They spend most of their lives at sea, but return to land to form breeding colonies during spring and summer.

Excellent swimmers, can dive to depths of 61 meters (200 feet), though they usually stay underwater for only 20 or 30 seconds.

Hunt small fish like herring or sand eels.

By flapping their wings up to 400 times per minute they can reach speeds of 88 kilometers an hour. (55 miles an hour)

Atlantic puffins land on North Atlantic seacoasts and islands to form breeding colonies each spring and summer. Iceland is the breeding home of perhaps 60 percent of the world's Atlantic puffins.

Full Moon. Rises at sunset, high in the sky around midnight. Visible all night.

This marks the first time that accurate shadows at this level of detail are possible in such a computer simulation. The shadows are based on the global elevation map being developed from measurements by the Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA) aboard the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). LOLA has already taken more than 10 times as many elevation measurements as all previous missions combined.

The Moon always keeps the same face to us, but not exactly the same face. Because of the tilt and shape of its orbit, we see the Moon from slightly different angles over the course of a month. When a month is compressed into 12 seconds, as it is in this animation, our changing view of the Moon makes it look like it's wobbling. This wobble is called libration.

The word comes from the Latin for "balance scale" (as does the name of the zodiac constellation Libra) and refers to the way such a scale tips up and down on alternating sides. The sub-Earth point gives the amount of libration in longitude and latitude. The sub-Earth point is also the apparent center of the Moon's disk and the location on the Moon where the Earth is directly overhead.

The Moon is subject to other motions as well. It appears to roll back and forth around the sub-Earth point. The roll angle is given by the position angle of the axis, which is the angle of the Moon's north pole relative to celestial north. The Moon also approaches and recedes from us, appearing to grow and shrink. The two extremes, called perigee (near) and apogee (far), differ by more than 10%.

The most noticed monthly variation in the Moon's appearance is the cycle of phases, caused by the changing angle of the Sun as the Moon orbits the Earth. The cycle begins with the waxing (growing) crescent Moon visible in the west just after sunset. By first quarter, the Moon is high in the sky at sunset and sets around midnight. The full Moon rises at sunset and is high in the sky at midnight. The third quarter Moon is often surprisingly conspicuous in the daylit western sky long after sunrise.

Celestial north is up in these images, corresponding to the view from the northern hemisphere. The descriptions of the print resolution stills also assume a northern hemisphere orientation. To adjust for southern hemisphere views, rotate the images 180 degrees, and substitute "north" for "south" in the descriptions.
