Si formano come per magia
con poco o niente
salgono nell'aria
sferica lucente
il vento se le porta via.
S'innalzano sfidando
l'azzurro del cielo
e il calore del sole.
Esistono, sono trasparenti
e formano colori
e morir non vogliono
come i nostri sogni
Conocephalus discolor, also called Conocephalus fuscus. Long-winged Conehead.
I could hear the lovely song of this male with my good ear.
The Long-Winged Conehead appears in two forms, the normal winged form and an extra long winged form called macropterous.
This image is of an adult male Long-Winged Conehead from the Lound colony, not one of the Coneheads from the garden.

Captured in: Old Bethpage, NY.
Earlier this year I had a chance to attend a musical themed macro photography event in Old Bethpage, NY, which offered attendees the opportunity to work on their macro photography skills. There were a range of subjects available, ranging from small string to wind instruments.
Looking back on the shots from that day, I found this image of a violin that I thought would be fun to process. I decided it might even be interesting to take the processing in a more creative direction... The final result was something a bit unusual (well, at least for me), but hopefully you'll like it!
Please click on the image for a closer look.
