Leaving a friend's apartment, I thought this scene had potential. Experimented a bit to find a way to accentuate that smoothness of curve and distill it down to basic shapes, getting rid of the detail that the phone's camera naturally captures.

On Thursday 29 October I'd posted a b/w photo of our front yard ash, with half its leaves fallen. And then Friday we had quite strong rain and wind.
.
I've continued exploring through old photo folders. I was reminded that I used extensively the Hipstamatic app on my old iPhone 5.
In those days, with that phone, one would choose a filter for Lens, a filter for Film and possibly a filter for Flash. Then one would shoot the photo and the filters would be applied.
The only format was square, similar to the start of Instagram.
We had gone to Santa Fe, the Aspen Vista Picnic Ground to walk the Tesuque Road and check out the changing of the aspens. That October was wet and cold, even snowing the last week. But this first week that month was mostly wet. It made the colors seem more rich.

I was still going through folders from 2015 and found the December iPhone shots. I'd been using the iPhone 5 and the Hipstamatic app quite a bit.
This was from a friend's apartment complex when I'd gone over to visit and the sun shining on the wall of meters had attracted my eye.

Finding Hipstamatic shots from 2015 has been interesting. The filters I had chosen to use back then have more boing to them than I might choose six years down the road, but I I like how it turned out on this moist October day.

Friends came in from out of town on Friday. It's been a few years since last they were here. We had a great weekend, even if we did have to go to the quilt store...
... it's become a tradition. And so has my shooting photos while there become a part of that. Have to while away the time while Kim and Dawn peruse things.
I thought I'd go for one last double exposure with the Hipstamatic app.
I only had one attempt at this and by golly it worked far better than I had hoped.
It was sad to see them take off this morning.

When I had first gotten an iPhone and started using the Hipstamatic app, one would choose a lens filter, film filter and flash filter and the images shot would only be that. Then later Hipstamatic would allow shooting first, then post process with lens, film and flash filters.
Lately I've gone back to shooting like I had when I'd first gotten the phone, letting the app do it's thing and seeing how things came out.
I'd always liked the combination of Lowy lens with Blackeys XF film, used here at the botanic garden.
