"Force" is local dialect for "falls", (derived from the Norse "Foss") and does not reflect the power of the river. These are the lower major falls on the river Tees, 2 miles below High Force.

Crazy Tuesday - Theme - Low Key

St Charles creek has nearly dried up, leaving a green layer of algae on exposed mud. The vast open space is the marsh in Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge in southeastern Idaho.

A particularly low tide coinciding with dusk enabled me to get a shot of Tower Bridge from this location. There wasn't too much wind either, helping with the reflections.

Before we ever got to Sylvan Lake there was this stream with a low water bridge, which I just learned are also called an Irish Bridge. I took this photo while we were sitting on the bridge. And yes Anita got out and walked on the bridge which was .... of course covered in water! The fall color is about gone and the wind is Fierce here today so I expect it will take care of whatever leaves are left on the trees, and hopefully blow most of them out of my yard so I don't have to deal with them!!

I'm a little embarrassed. My last post was kicked out of the Macro Monday group because it was not the proper size. I meant no harm, just thought the photo fit into the theme. Anyway, lesson learned and back to what I know. 😊

Thames Beach at low tide near Millennium Bridge.

The North Esk River is tidal at the point where it meets the Tamar. If you look closely here you can see how low the tide level has fallen. That Gothic house is called "The Art House", and is a popular backpackers' place. It was built in 1888.

Despite continuing with the development of this red series in coming days, tomorrow I will give you a little surprise for some variety.

Just loved the colors and textures revealed there along the coast of Maine at low tide under the moody afternoon lighting.

The spectacularly bizarre Andean Cock-of-the-rock is perhaps the most popularly recognized bird of the cloud forests of the Andes Mountains.

Distributed from Venezuela to Bolivia in the Andes, this species is readily identified by its fan-shaped crest and brilliant orange plumage. Males spend much of their time displaying at leks, where they jump up and down on particular branches and utter low, guttural croaks. The name is derived from their preference for rocks and ledges as substrates for their mud cup nests.

Hope autumn and winter will bring enough water to the Harz Mountains.

Bleibt zu hoffen, dass Herbst und Winter die Talsperren im Harz wieder ausreichend füllen.

Found some Petunias today.
