In my visit to Portugal, I saw this shy door in Sesimbra and quickly took a shot. Yesterday my Toronto daughter sent me a most moving video, done in Montreal by 4 young men. That caused me to open a new album: Love Lessons from Children. By the way, the video is very Canadian: honest, caring, reserved, and to the heart and soul, with no propaganda nor political rhetoric.

Now about the picture - It spoke to me when I wanted to address the video. I assumed political license and changed 'we love fish' (so Portguese!) to 'we love here'. My thanks goes out to the people who live at #4 somewhere in SESIMBRA. "Love lessons from children" thanks you - OBRIGADA.

This may be way off, but it's sent sincerely from a Canadian in Guelph near Toronto: Meus agradecimentos vai para as pessoas que vivem em # 4 em algum lugar em Sesimbra.

Does it still echo the sound of democracy?

With heightened imagination

Welcomed into the spirit of a question

The essence of a symbol resonates

A call to understanding

To freely think and dream

To conquer mind

To rule emotions

To enjoy health and resiliency

On our Own Terms

Formulate individual expectations

Forged in the wisdom of Consciousness

Never forgetting the value of perspectives

Which ever reveal the true gifts of a nation

With all of its diversity of experiences

Cultures, traditions, histories, narratives

Sculpted in shadow and light

Liberty is celebrated again and again

Hear the growling bears and leaping pink salmon

Majestic moose and ever diligent beavers

Roaring coastal sprays and the silent Rocky Mountains

Windy wheatfields and freshly melting glaciers

Hand moves to heart

The song lifts life towards a cherished ideal

Transcending any piece of geography

Drawn on a map of ownership

The freedom cry of the spirit

Takes us beyond planetary home

Reaches into the realms of the Universal

Which sustains the very essence of Nature

While here on the ground

A dying leaf still glows

In brave red hues

Reminding us to stay true

To the divine spark of life we are

The priviledge to defend it

Sing confidently under the wet boughs of a wild Maple Tree

Photo...a special leaf that called out to me to take its picture last fall...

Sending love and light to all my Flickr friends wherever you may be. Despite all of the false news reports about the millions of Canadians who stood in solidarity, called the Canadian Convoy all kinds of derogatory names, many of us for the first time in a long time, experienced a sense of unity that far surpassed creed, race, religion, age, income, education, gender...there was dancing, community with the homeless,...and with the rigid resistance of our leadership's desire to communicate...it was an important reminder to know that democracy is not handed out by the government willingly...we must remain vigilant with our civil engagement and expectations and with ourselves. Democracy demands it.

Now more than ever, we must recognize the value, power and impact that each voice has. As the words came pouring out in this poem...I realized again that an emblem of freedom is ever a symbol of what can still unfold... nothing is fixed and static. We need to know our minds, bodies and emotions...design a world that will continue to uphold self-knowledge so all our gifts and talents may be cultivated to flourish and lift all of mankind. When the data world offers you a drop-down menu, choose something that isn't on the list...at least twice a day!!!

Added April 11/2022:

The spirit of this mighty grassroots event called the Freedom Convoy 2022 is captured so well in this recently released complilation footage of many of my favorite round the clock vloggers who reminded us that the experience on the ground can be so different than the constructed story many have bought into. When was the last time you felt aligned with health sovereignty and free speech? Enjoy this video! The accompanying music is beautiful.

A truly fantastic opening night gig by Pendragon last night at Trading Boundaries in Sussex as they kick off their "Love over Fear" European Tour. Playing the whole album straight through in the first set, it sounded even better than the record. A second set featured their greatest work - "Indigo", "This Green & Pleasant Land", Master of Illusion" and my favourite, "Faces of Light", finally coming off stage at Midnight and following it up with a signing session afterwards... Nick Barrett (Guitar), Mark Westwood (Acoustic guitar), Clive Nolan, Keyboards, Ann Cambridge & Zoe Devenish (backing vocals), Peter Gee (Bass) and new drummer Jan-Vincent Velazco (drums).
