Crazy Tuesday: In the middle

Such a dreary, rainy day today. I wanted to use the rain to my advantage for this photo idea and have the heart in between the two raindrops (representing the tears shed for the people of Ukraine) but when I clipped it to the branch, the big drops fell. No problem, the heart is still in the middle of the frame so hopefully this image still works for the theme. My heart hurts for those involved with the conflicts going on in this world and I am struggling to understand how people can inflict pain on other human beings. It is truly heartbreaking. 💔

If only the world wasn't such a cruel place to be

Head on over to the Love for Ukraine event to show support and get the .Tardfish. Love Ukraine Crown!

1/31/2018-Pops of Color. I wanted to try taking photos of pencils in a little different way. I moved about a year ago to a small farm and my photography gear and art supplies have been in the basement. Since I have decided to do a 365 I needed some gear to make sure I got the most out of it. I found my tripod, my shutter release, and my art box full of little props. I am not a color person lol, I have accepted that about my personality. If I could I would keep every picture in BW. I have really pushed myself to incorporate color into my photography and life. I feel like this accurately portrays that.

Setup: White wood floor, see through paper with design on it, a vase to put the can on, and pencils. To create the white boca inside the can I made sure that the pencil's label/info was visible.

I love this in so many ways :) Hope your enjoying your day.

January 17, 2018-Snow Globe Flop. I had an idea to try and use my class globe to enhance a snowy scene....it didn't work so well lol. Oh well. It was a good try and it got me out of the house to take a photo off the property. I even found a back up photo for another day. Enjoy your day.

Day 351 of 365.

The Memorial Altar at SoleSpace, Oakland, California.

I didn’t want to take photos today. It was the first day when I thought “I just don’t have heart to do it.”

*****

Promise me,

promise me this day,

promise me now,

while the sun is overhead

exactly at the zenith,

promise me:

Even as they

strike you down

with a mountain of hatred and violence;

even as they step on you and crush you

like a worm,

even as they dismember and disembowel you,

remember, brother,

remember:

man is not our enemy.

The only thing worthy of you is compassion –

invincible, limitless, unconditional.

Hatred will never let you face

the beast in man.

One day, when you face this beast alone,

with your courage intact, your eyes kind,

untroubled

(even as no one sees them),

out of your smile

will bloom a flower.

And those who love you

will behold you

across ten thousand worlds of birth and dying.

Alone again,

I will go on with bent head,

knowing that love has become eternal.

On the long, rough road,

the sun and the moon

will continue to shine.

1/26/2018-Old Barn. I can't say it enough...I just love old barns. On my way home from giving a horse a massage I stopped on the side of the rode to capture this little gem. I'm getting more and more comfortable pulling over and getting my photograph when something catches my eye.

Tonight I paid my respects to innocent and brave souls. There are no words to describe how proud I am of my city. Stay Strong Manchester ❤️

January 23, 2018-I <3 U! Josh worked last night and set the coffee and left me this note. It's really the little things in life that make it so worth it. I cherish these gestures and tokens. This isn't the profound photo for today that I wanted after all the critter pictures, but its rainy and I have another busy day. LOTS todo and I wanted to remember this :)

This impromptu "mural" popped up outside a Skytrain station, each message - from different people- encased in a weatherproof plastic bag. "Be kind", "Learn from your mistakes", "Write in Peace". Inspiring graffiti after some we've seen recently.

1/15/2018-Barn Chores are never done. Here is Josh working on fixing the fence that Wesfold broke...Wesfold thought he was being helpful here while Josh was working. This is one my boarders horses, he's a bit of a block head but we still love him.

You can see three of the others horses on our property Regal (mine far left), Ali in the middle, and Mocha on the end.

I had another photo for today, it's an adorable photo of Mocha Man. I almost went with that one, but it's Monday we can all use a little laugh :)

The power of some in the media to incite violence must never be underestimated. We have seen the growth of talk radio in the United Sates and other parts of the world, although many serve as a medium for good, others are used as vehicles to spread hate. Many of these talk radio announcers have now expanded into world of television and are drawing huge audiences. What took place in Rwanda should always be a reminder as to the power of Radio to incite hatred and violence.

Wake up and pay attention before it is too late.

Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines (RTLM) was a Rwandan radio station which broadcast from July 8, 1993 to July 31, 1994. It played a significant role during the April-July 1994 Rwandan Genocide.

The station's name is French for "Mille Collines Free Radio and Television", deriving from the description of Rwanda as "Land of a Thousand Hills". It received support from the government-controlled Radio Rwanda, which initially allowed it to transmit using their equipment.

Widely listened to by the general population, it projected racist propaganda against Tutsis, moderate Hutus, Belgians, and the United Nations mission UNAMIR. It is widely regarded as having played a crucial role in creating the atmosphere of charged racial hostility that allowed the genocide to occur.

A Rwandan radio journalist has been charged with inciting mass killings during the 1994 genocide. Valerie Bemeriki, a former employee of the independent Radio Mille Collines, was arrested in north-western Rwanda late last week, according to Justice Minister Jean de Dieu Mucyo.

"She will be prosecuted for genocide and crimes against humanity," the justice minister said.

Radio Mille Collines became notorious for its broadcasts which encouraged the slaughter of Tutsis and of Hutus who were sympathetic to the Tutsi cause.

The station was launched in 1993, backed by family members of the Hutu President Juvenal Habyarimana - whose death in a plane crash triggered the genocide.

"Do not kill those inyenzi (cockroaches) with a bullet - cut them to pieces with a machete" was one comment attributed to Ms Bemeriki.
