2016, I was invited to attend my niece wedding in France. After the wedding, the next day, my sister and her husband took me on a trip to St Lourde and a tour of the Pyreneess. It was a cloudy/rainy day at St Lourde. Lot of Umbrellas in sight and a majestic cathedral. I went through the mass and the dipping in St Lourde water. Then I started photographing the area. This is one of these photos.
Our Lady of Lourdes (French: Notre-Dame de Lourdes) is a title of the Virgin Mary. She is venerated under this title by the Roman Catholic church due to her apparitions that occurred in Lourdes, France. The apparition of 11 February 1858, of which Bernadette Soubirous (age 14) told her mother that a "Lady" spoke to her in the cave of Massabielle.
Lourdes es una ciudad del suroeste de Francia, en las faldas de los Pirineos. Es conocida en todo el mundo por los Santuarios de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, un importante sitio católico de peregrinación. Cada año, millones de personas visitan la Gruta de Massabielle donde, en 1858, se dice que la Virgen María apareció ante una mujer de la zona. Los peregrinos pueden beber o bañarse en el agua que brota de un manantial en la gruta.
Lourdes es una ciudad y comuna francesa situada en las llanuras de Bigorre, al sureste del departamento de Altos Pirineos, en la región de Occitania, a una altitud de 400 metros. Está bañada por el río Gave de Pau que procede de Gavarnie. Es, a partir del siglo XIX, un importante centro religioso católico de peregrinación, donde tuvieron lugar las apariciones de la Virgen a la niña Bernadette Soubirous.
Lourdes fue durante la Edad Media una población fortificada, cuya situación geográfica hizo que fuese una importante plaza fuerte del condado de Bigorre. Su castillo data del siglo XIV, reedificado en el XVI. La plaza fue cedida a los ingleses por el tratado de Brétigny en 1360 y hasta 1406 no fue recuperada.
El Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes es un conjunto de edificios y lugares dedicados al culto de la Virgen María, en Francia. El complejo incluye las basílicas de la Inmaculada Concepción, la de Nuestra Señora del Rosario y la de san Pío X, así como la Gruta de las apariciones, donde la Virgen se presentó ante Bernadette Soubirous, según la creencia católica.

Lourdes
is a small market town lying in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
It is part of the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region in southwestern France. Prior to the mid-19th century, the town was best known for the Château fort de Lourdes, a fortified castle that rises up from a rocky escarpment at its center.
In 1858 Lourdes rose to prominence in France and abroad due to the Marian apparitions claimed to have been seen by the peasant girl Bernadette Soubirous, who was later canonized. Shortly thereafter the city with the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes became one of the world's most important sites of pilgrimage and religious tourism.

Since the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1858, millions of people from all over the world have flocked to Lourdes every year to experience the grace of this place. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes is above all a place of healing of body and heart, where people humbly address their requests to the one who gave her name to Bernadette Soubirous: "I am the Immaculate Conception".

Lourdes is a commune in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Midi-Pyrénées region in south-western France.
Lourdes is a small market town lying in the foothills of the Pyrenees, famous for the Marian apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes that are reported to have occurred in 1858 to Bernadette Soubirous. At that time, the most prominent feature of the town was the fortified castle that rises up from a rocky escarpment at its centre.
Following the reports that Our Lady of Lourdes had appeared to Bernadette Soubirous on a total of eighteen occasions, Lourdes has developed into a major place of Roman Catholic pilgrimage and of alleged miraculous healings. The 150th Jubilee of the first apparition took place on 11 February 2008 with an outdoor mass attended by approximately 45,000 pilgrims.
Today Lourdes has a population of around 15,000 but is able to take in some 5,000,000 pilgrims and tourists every season.

Lady of Lourdes.
A small Catholic Chapel stands high on a hill of the promontory on the island of Lifou and it has as its high point a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes and it provides an outstanding example missionary architecture in the South Pacific.
Built in 1898 the Chapel was built following the arrival of Catholic missionaries who arrived at the small village of Easo on the island of Lifou in 1858.
On the peak of the roof stands a cast iron statue of St Mary and according to local sources many years ago as a result of a cyclone the Chapel roof was blown away as was the cast iron statue of St Mary.
The statue was located some years later by divers and as a result of this find the statue was recovered and returned to its rightful place, on the roof of the chapel.
Constructed of solid cement walls it has a single entrance and has narrow pointed windows of either side.
The promontory on which the chapel stands commands an amazing view of the Santal and Jinek bays.
