In the meantime, here's another version of Oscar Wilde in Merrion Square, Dublin, looking across the road at the house where he grew up.
The statue was sculpted by Danny Osborne and unveiled in 1997. It's made up of a several exotic rock types, including larvikite (blue pearl granite) from the Oslo Fjord, green nephrite jade from Canada, pink thulite from Norway, and black Indian granite, all of which contirbutue to its distinctive colours.

Lenox Lounge, the iconic jazz club in Harlem where legends including Billie Holiday, John Coltrane and Miles Davis performed was in business from 1939-2012, and the story behind its closure is truly one of the saddest. Owner, Alvin Reed was forced to close after a rent increase of $10,000 to $20,000 a month. When he closed, he took most of the iconic Art Deco interior and facade including the Lenox Lounge neon signage with its amazing font and put it into storage, as he hoped to reopen the jazz lounge nearby, but money troubles and litigation with his original landlord delayed those plans. The storefront sat abandoned for years before being demolished and replaced with a 4-story modern building.

Another Denver/Colfax legend. Pete's Satire Lounge has been around since 1962. It's dark, dingy, divey goodness is a Denver icon. I worked here, another lifetime ago. I partied with Fred Schneider of the B-52s here one late night, and my mom had a corner stool she sat on for decades.
They've done a remodel inside since the pandemic. It looks good, but it's not my old-school Satire anymore. Gone are the cozy booths and the dive bar feel, and gone is the best Mexican food for a non-Mexican food restaurant (and for most Mexican food restaurants, for that matter). But things must change, or die. I'm glad they've been able to adapt and that the Satire light continues to shine bright.

The Flickr Lounge-Nature
I took this at Stewart Park last week. This gull was running around with a few of his feather falling out. It was still able to fly.
So things around here were very busy this week, including an unscheduled trip to the vet and work for my client...resulting in my forgetting to get some pictures of the critters! So it's into the wayback machine. ;)
Looks like the tree is plugged into the wall, just like those plumbing pipes in the bottom left corner.
