Lotus Cars Limited is an English sports car manufacturer based in Hethel, Norfolk, England. The company was founded in 1952 by Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman as Lotus Engineering Ltd. Initially, the production was located in the building of the former stables in Hornsey. Since 1966, the production of automobiles has been moved to a modern plant near Hethel. Next to the plant was an old military airfield, which was converted into a test track.
