I should have bought a lottery ticket after this, because I'm willing to bet this will be the luckiest railfan moment I'll ever have in my life. DME 6363, 6365, and a red boxcar lead 271 over the Root River just south of La Cresent on the Marquette Sub. The lead pair of motors are right at home and likely passed through this area many times as the Milwaukee's 201 and 204, respectively.
Several years ago, I posted the best shot we got and wrote up this huge long description of how it happened here. The basic synopsis is that, after a full day in clouds and rain, a little hole in the sky appeared in Winona. Based on an internet post and ATCS, we surmised that 271 was south of La Cresent. And we rather absurdly concluded that this little hole would continue to stay open and drift 30 miles to the south.
Somehow, everything came together to produce the most intense storm light I've ever had the privilege of shooting a train in. I seriously doubt I'll ever see something quite like this again.
Am gestrigen 09.05. war der schon ziemlich ranzig aussehende Tw 1022 der Saarbahn mit Lotto Werbung als Linie 1 von Siedlerheim nach Klein Blittersdorf unterwegs und konnte von mir an einer neu entdeckten Stelle fotografisch festgehalten werden.
Am 14.10.2023 gab reichlich „Wolken-Lotto“. Trotzdem kam die schöne Werbe-Taurus 1116-200 „Demokratie in Bewegung“ mit einem voll beladenen Papierzug, genau in einem Wolkenloch, durch Unkel (Rhein) gefahren😊

bin da neugierig reingestiefelt und hab eine Dame aufgeschreckt, die gerade die Zeitung mit einer Handlupe las, sah gut aus da ihre Nasenspitze fast das Papier berührte; sie war aber seht nett, hab mich kurz mir unterhalten, sie liess mich das Schild fotografieren und erzählte mir dass es das Geschäft schon seit über hundert Jahren gibt. Einrichtung ala Rumpelkammer mit alter Kredenz etc...Fazit: besuchenswert :-)

As part of the financing plans for Expo 67, the Federal Government established I believe, Canada's first lottery, Lotto Expo. It proved to be such a cash cow that when the mandate for Lotto Expo expired, it morphed into Lotto Canada. The tickest were sold through the Chartered Banks and there were a number of promotional articles produced, including these very cheap pens. They never worked very well and so nobody wanted them, even in the bank where I was working when pens were always at a premium. At some point, I cleared out my desk and took a handfull of these home. WHY? So that today I could use them as the subject of a photo excercise.

Natürlich kann das Schwein uns nicht mündlich vorhersagen, was zahlenmäßig gezogen wird, aber wenigstens mit Punkten andeuten: Je größer der Punkt, desto größer die Zahl, die am Mittwoch gezogen wird (gilt nur für Mittwoch, weil die Flecken mittwochs fotografiert wurden!).
Wer gut im Schätzen ist, darf sich über einen Gewinn freuen.
