The #SriDaladaMaligawa or The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a temple in the city of #Kandy in #SriLanka.
It was built within the royal palace complex which houses the one of the two surviving Relic of the Tooth of #LordBuddha, an object of veneration for Buddhists.
The other Tooth Relic is believed to be enshrined in a stupa called #Somawathi Chethiya.
The Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, the temple which houses the Sacred Tooth Relic of The Lord Buddha, is possibly the most sacred Buddhist shrine in the world. It is venerated not only by Buddhists in Sri Lanka but by Buddhists all over the world.
King Wimaladharmasuriya I (1592 - 1603), the first to select Kandy as the ruling capital, originally built a two storied temple for the Relic and brought the Tooth Relic from Delgamuwa near Kuruwita in Sabaragamuwa which had been hidden for protection. Remains of this temple no longer exist.
Wimaladharmasuriya II (1686 - 1706) built a three storied temple and his son King Viraparakrama Narendrasinha (1706 - 1738), the last Sinhalese King to rule the country, built a new two storied temple temple seeing that the old temple built by his father had decayed.
The last King of sri lanka, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe (1797 - 1814) built the Pattirippuwa (the Temple Of Tooth RelicKANDYOctagon). Originally, the Pattirippuwa (octagon) was part of the royal palace.
It was used by the King to address his fellow countrymen. Today the Pattirippuwa has become a part of the temple and houses ancient textures written in ola leaves. The entrance to the temple complex is through the “Maha Vahalkada”. There are two walls on the sides of the “Vahalkada”.
The outer wall is called “Diyareli Bamma” (‘wall of water ripples’). This same pattern is also used in the wall surrounding the Kandy lake. The inner wall is called “Walakulu Bamma” (‘wall of clouds’). Both these walls are built with holes to place oil lanterns during the night.
After passing the “Vahalkada” and the moat, you come to a “Makara Thorana”. Next is the tunnel “ambarawa”. Passing this you come to the ground floor of the temple complex. The lower
floor of the building called “pallemaluwa”. This inner chamber is fortified with a large wooden door and decorated with bronze and ivory. The area in front of the door is called the “Hevisi Mandapaya” (Drummers Courtyard) where the daily rituals are carried out.
The Tooth Relic is kept in the upper floor in the chamber called “Vadahitina Maligawa” The door at this chamber is covered with gold silver and ivory.
The Tooth Relic is encased in seven gold caskets studded with precious stones. The outer casket is studded by precious stones offered to the Tooth Relic by various rulers.
I hope you are here atleast once in ur life time... to imagine the powers of the Creator. The beauties of the Nature.
Madu River - flows across Balapitiya (approx 80kms down south from Colombo) is one of the rarely visited and unspoiled attractions any nature lover can find in Sri Lanka. She boasts of having a cluster of 64 small islands scattered along her path and the most of which are uninhabited and covered with mangroves. The main attraction of Madu is "Koth Doowa" (Pinnacle islet) which is housed to a serene Buddhist temple with a large statue of Lord Buddha and a venerated old Bo (pipal) tree. The river and the islands also provide shelter to many fauna and flora. But over enthusiastic nature lovers are forewarned! - Madu River is also a den for crocodiles.

Ling Yin Temple in Huangzhou.
Lingyin Temple or Temple of the Soul's Retreat is one of the largest and most visited Buddhist temples in China, which holds the largest statue of the Buddha Sakyamuni in the lotus position. It was built in 328 AD by Indian Monk Huili. The temple is now very popular among tourists and pilgrims as thousands visit it per day during peak season.
The temple consists of several buildings. Above is The Hall of Five Hundred Arhats
A modern addition, it faces onto the western side of the courtyard in front of the main hall. The building has a complex floor plan, shaped like a Buddhist swastika. Along the arms of the building the swastika bronze statues resembling 500 of the earliest high-ranking Buddhist disciples in China.are arranged. Each statue is slightly larger than life - weighs 1 ton - and each statue is seated on a unique ornate seat. At the centre, where the arms of the swastika join, stands a bronze canopy housing statues of four bodhisattvas representing the four cardinal directions. This is currently the tallest solid bronze structure in the world.
This shot was taken while visiting one of the Buddhist Monasteries. It was windy and the Flag caught my eye. Back home the creative part of my brain found a perfect overlay. A great visual appeal at the end!

This was definitely one of the coolest and most photogenic places in Kuala Lumpur, the Batu Caves.
As well as some stunning scenery and cool (if somewhat angry) monkeys, this cave also contains a Hindu temple.
Although most people who increase the dynamic range in photos like to get every single last bit of detail out of it, I like to develop for the mood of the image. In this case, I could have shown the top of the cave and the sky, as I took 9 exposures, but I quite liked the way the image fades to a blown out white.
You might disagree, but I prefer this approach.

Saraca asoca or the Ashoka tree is one of the most legendary and sacred trees of India, and one of the most fascinating flowers in the Indian range of flower essences. Ashoka is a Sanskrit word meaning without grief or that which gives no grief. Drinking the water in which the flowers have been washed is widely considered a protection against grief.
It is said that Lord Buddha was born under this tree. It is also associated with Kamadeva, the Hindu god of love, who included an ashoka blossom among the five flowers in his quiver, where ashoka represent seductive hypnosis. The tree is a symbol of love.
The Ashoka is prized for its beautiful foliage and fragrant flowers. Highly valued as well for its handsome appearance and the color and abundance of its flowers, the Ashoka tree is often found in royal palace compounds and gardens as well as close to temples throughout India.
The Ashoka tree has many health benefits and has long been used in traditional Indian medicine as a key ingredient in various therapies and cures.
