We currently have a Western Hemlock Looper (Lambdina fiscellaria) infestation in my town. When you go out to water the shrubs, bazillions of moths come flying out. They are everywhere!

BNSF Dash 9-44CW 786 leads 5261 and 6668 around the Tehachapi Loop towards Mojave.

From Wikipedia: The Tehachapi Loop is a 3,779 feet (0.72 mi; 1.15 km) long spiral, or helix, on the Union Pacific Railroad Mojave Subdivision through Tehachapi Pass, of the Tehachapi Mountains in Kern County, south-central California. The line connects Bakersfield and the San Joaquin Valley to Mojave in the Mojave Desert.

Rising at a steady two-percent grade, the track gains 77 feet (23 m) in elevation and makes a 1,210-foot (370 m) diameter circle. Any train that is at least 3,800 feet (1,162 m) (approx. 56 60’(67'11") box cars) long passes over itself going around the loop.

Mach Loop Bwlch top shelf 26.04.2016

I am very much an opportunist as far as the Loop is concerned. I don't have the privilege of tip offs or contacts within squadrons like some do unfortunately.

I will book a day off work, drive to Mid Wales climb a big hill and just hope for the best. I arrived at the Bwlch car park just before 8am and it was full! Last time it was like this I had a good day.... Today was probably the most memorable day I will ever have in the loop.

Started off well with a Tornado GR4, then a Hawk. Then it got interesting, Belgians in the Lichfield Corridor over the scanner requesting Low Fly. Awesome! F16s through the loop, really pleased!

A little longer passed and we endured a full blown blizzard for about 20 minutes. Once the snow passed the skies cleared and then we waited. Americans over the scanner, Rage was the call sign, F15's were on the way! As they neared then they began talking about the formation, they had Raptors in tow!!!!

I corespun 16 Loop babycakes, that I thought representsd each element (4 babies per element). It works from air to earth, fire then water. Each element has 4 subtle stripes from the different babycakes.

I'm SOO thrilled!!!

3oz of baby alpaca and tussah silk!

"Butterscotch Sundae" consists of a blend of pure vanilla baby, natural chocolate baby, and natural coffee baby alpaca layered with luscious tussah silk in butterscotch hues. Each batt is topped of with a sprinking of chocolate/bronze glitz.

So beautiful! Not sure what this will become yet, but I will probably spin it very thin and 2-ply it.

Enjoy this 2.9-mile loop trail near Breckenridge, Colorado. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 44 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are June through August. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

Taken on The Cobb at Lyme Regis, there's a string of these loops all the way along, guess they must have carried a hand rail rope at some time.

in May of 2005 a Northbound BNSF train decends Union Pacic trackage at the famous Tehachapi Loop. the head is in between crossings of the Caliente Creek while the rest of it's train is on the loop. when I first began shooting trains I focused too much on the train...over the next couple of years my intent focused on the entire scene. sometimes it works when the train is the main focus.

"Photography is a craft that is acquired over many years!"

And the camera is only the tool!

When not 'dictated' by a client, I take images that come out of my brain, the birth of the idea, the development of it, my vision and the creation, my enjoyment and the challenge, the hype and the anticipation, the struggle and disappointment of the failures, the gathering of your courage to try again... the stamina, the madness some love to call passion?

The playing with light, to me, the ultimate high, I don't need anything else. Once the image is there, I'm content, and if it 'inspires' others, releases an emotion, that's wonderful!

And I've seen how my photos have 'inspired' many!

I'm not stupid to think that everybody is going to like, let alone understand my image, but I can easily live with that, because I do not have that expectation!

I, in the first place, have to be happy with it, the quality, the composition, EVERYTHING, it has to be immaculate, I have to stand by it 100% or the outside world will NEVER see it!

That goes for my pro AND my free work (what you see here).

I wouldn't have it any other way.

I hope that you enjoyed my 'rave'?

Take care, all the best and above all... enjoy your photography.

If the day comes I don't enjoy it anymore... I'll GIVE AWAY all my gear (it's a lot, gathered over the years, please don't hold your breath, heeeee), M, (*_*)

A time lapse of Q693 and Q694 traversing a section of the Loops, as viewed from the North Cove Overlook of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

8:32PM- photograph began as Q693 rounds the bend near the center of the picture and continues toward the bottom right (railroad south), crossing Peppers Creek at Camp Two in the area of red light. A car's headlight traveling Peppers Creek Rd can also be seen intersecting the railroad at the crossing.

9:07PM- Q694 rounds the bend midway through Rocky (where Q693 is waiting) on the mountainside to the far left of the photo. They will continue toward the bottom of the photograph (railroad north) and are beginning the swing back around the reversal curve towards Camp Two just to the left of bottom center 7 minutes later.

9:40PM- After Q694 makes their way around by Little Switzerland, they emerge from Pine Ridge Tunnel in the area directly above the Camp Two Crossing and continue toward the far right side of the photograph (railroad north) towards Ridge Tunnel.

The streaks in the upper right hand corner are cars traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway. The orange light and open area just below that is the Orchard at Altapass. The very bright orange area on the left side of the photograph is the trailer drop lot for Baxter. All the lights in the far background would be Woodlawn on into Marion.
