Some of the frames scanned with a very red/pink cast, not quite sure why.

"Looming," because one USA name for the yucca is "Ghosts in the Graveyard." It is often found growing wild there, in neglected rural cemeteries. At night, the clusters of pale blooms on thin stalks appear to be floating apparitions...especially in the moonlight.

Yuccas are in the same family as asparagus (!!), Also, the Joshua Tree (name of U2's breakthrough album) is a type of yucca.

I think the yucca in my photo is Yucca filamentosa. Its spikey, tough leaves are known (and used as) "meat hangers" in rural venues where meat curing and smoking take place.

Lots of other interesting stuff there.

Location of this yucca: Neighbor's front yard, Riehen BS Switzerland.

a new-construction house (with the stickers still on the windows) that was just recently completed on this prime waterfront-lot with the lighthouse above them in their front yard, and the beautifully calm salt-run bay behind them. From their dock it's just five minutes to the Atlantic Ocean by boat. I'm just wondering if the very strong light-beam from the lighthouse will be a distraction to the new owners (all night) as it rotates over the top of their new home while they're trying to get to sleep? I guess they'll find that out very soon!

small girls and boys work the carpet looms with "nimmble fingers". Sometimes loom owners will loan the impoverished parents money. The child is leased out to weave to pay back the loan.

The snow is low on the mountain behind my house (which is behind this building). Snow is forecast for early next week: A joy for some but a looming threat for me. :)

The North Shore mountains are the crown jewel of the lower mainland. Their presence has been the backdrop for the city I've enjoyed all my life. I've reached a point where if I ever had to leave here, I couldn't live anywhere that didn't have mountains visible somewhere on the skyline.
