Model mee in my gorgeous outfit, just so love it

When one wanders around and their mind set is within a certain period some may actually have wandered a path tread by many from the past. I love the beach and SL beaches are no different to RL in ambience. I often have wondered who else from long ago have treaded the same route as I am taking. The image is that of a past 18th century soldier wandering the shores. Now with the misted horizon is it a vision from the past occurring now or is it taken back then? I guess for me I try to envision the past of some solitude moments. Who knows what they were thinking but I feel we at times all have the same vision of a past long long ago. Maybe what we think in silence is the same as what was thought long ago.

This was taken in Maui as a storm was coming in. The air was balmy and still, and the light was fascinating! Those streaks above the ocean is rain pouring down.. we were treated to a lightening show that night.

Yesterday, I fixed a button. That was some twenty years agothough....lol

A few weeks back I came across some thread at a flea market. I did like this more vintage/old school look.

The pathway leads the way through the Silver Birch trees that gently sway in the breeze as though they are nodding to you as you pass by and whispering to you to get a move on..

I have a thing about paths. Not those made of hard concrete, gravel, or asphalt but lovely soft gentle-ish ones that lead through woods and along by rivers, and streams in the low lying valleys. I find them magical places and to follow one and not to know where it will lead you, for me, is the best thing of all. Ive lost count of the number of times Ive followed them for miles only to come to a dead end of an overgrow mass of brambles or a boggy mire.

But still, Ive always found something interesting like an unusual shaped stone or fossil, a wild flower or tree or a badgers set that I didnt know anything about as these are the places where you will find these things.

Many of these trails here in Ireland were old Mass paths that people used for centuries to go to Sunday services and they went from village to village. This path travels from the village of Laragh to Rathdrum. It follows a river for much of its journey and you can just imagine the parents trying to control their laughing, boisterous children from playing in the river and making a complete mess of their clothes as it could lead to eternal damnation if you appeared at Mass in a state like that! God would not be pleased and neither would the priest who would cut you such a look that would nearly put the heart crossways in you! Lol!

These are really special places and thankfully after centuries of neglect they have now been restored and made accessible to everybody. There are good feelings about them and should there be such a thing as "being in a state of grace", then surely the people who passed this way, with their lovely children, their friends and their neighbours on those Sunday mornings long, long ago, were filled with such a goodness of spirit. I truly envy them and of their time here.

So when you see an old country path leading off into the distance somwhere, do follow it. You will most likely find me where it ends, stuck in a deep bog hole! Help!

Have a wonderful day!

A replica of the ship used by Columbus when he discovered America.

A Shot taken earlier back in the summer. How I miss those long days, going back to GMT and often getting home when it is completely dark, lessens the amount of time I can realistically get out and about.

Best viewed in Lightbox.

Taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark 2.

A bunch of flowers in a window, with colours to match a moment in time.

There are these old row houses on a busy street going up a hill.

I have rarely seen inside but they look like cute little apartments inside.

Happy Window Wednesday

One of my favorite farms to photograph. Something keeps drawing me back every couple years.

This morning we had a heavy fog on the marsh. I caught this just as it started to lift.

View On Black

Long ago there was a roadway and a gate here, used by horse drawn wagons originally, the Oak post is all that remains of those distant times.

Taken so long ago that I can't recall the place.

Another scene at Abbott Church from 5/15/2020 after the storm had passed.

For this RAW shot, I used a 10-stop ND Filter which allowed for 40 seconds of exposure time to smear the clouds, a 2-stop Hard Stop GND to bring down the brightness of the horizon and the sky so the church would be exposed a little better, and metered the horizon. Quite a bit of post-processing color adjustment in Lightroom due to the 10-stop filter, which made the original exposure very, very blue.

Mother Nature was very kind to me this day. She drives me crazy sometimes (well, most of the time), but on this day, I could not have asked anything more of her.

The preserved kitchen in the National Trust Manor house.

I came across this old house a couple years ago while looking for Abbott Church. The first time I photographed it, I did so from inside my truck, not really taking it seriously. It was intriguing, but at the time the lighting was wrong and the sky was very bland. When I got around to post-processing the RAW image, I couldn't make anything work, but wanted to go back in hopes the sky and lighting would be better.

Well, two years passed and I was back wandering the baron expanse of Washington County, CO. I revisited the old house on the hill and the lighting was much better, as was the sky. There was a propane truck parked next to the house (no idea why because I seriously doubt anyone lives there), but I was able to position the shot such that the house blocked it from view.

There is literally nothing near this house. It's way out there in the middle of nowhere. The "town" of Last Chance (population 23) is just down the road, but there's nothing there either.

This is a photo of me from the early 1960's.

We were in northwest WI at my grandparents' house for Christmas I believe.

Dad took this shot through the window of me playing out in the snow.

I do recall Dad saying that Grandma wouldn't let us outside until the temperatures got to something like -15 F.

Back then, there was no such thing as wind chill readings.

I thought this would be fun to see to explain why I may be a lover of winter!

Slide photo scanned. My Dad's photography.

Another image from Abbott Church in Colorado earlier this summer. Such a great little church in the middle of the vast expanse of eastern Colorado.

No HDR with this shot. Just blended two RAW shots; one for the clouds and another for the foreground.

Opted for a very wide angle to capture the remoteness and minimalist view. I wish I had more megapixels for greater detail, but it's fine for web viewing. Maybe I'll splurge and get the new Canon R5 (*cough*)! it has 45mp instead of 30mp. =)

just stopping by

to say hello!

This one was way off the beaten path and gave me the feeling that it had not been visited in many years. I loved the rusted fences, old sun bleached wooden fences, the bleached dilapidated buildings, general dishevelment and especially the unusual red barn, probably sustained by the metal roof. Some of the utility posts are tilting on their way towards earth, which is always fun to see.

More pictures of detail will follow.

Ever run into a dream place on your travels that was just out of reach? A place that made you stop your travels for a short time and you can't explain why. But you find yourself wondering what if?

A very remote, but perhaps not lonely, church on the eastern plains of Colorado. I imagine there are quite a few spirits still visiting this place.

Some old negatives I found. I can't disclose what's on them. The prints are torn apart long time ago.

Music: dj tiesto - In my memory

That summer, we talked endlessly

always, about everything,

fusion, nothing new for you

i felt, hey, under and, cool breezes

the heavenly

...

and we argue, constantly

disagree, about everything

distance, nothing new for me

i feel uneasy, under this thing

thoughts away

the heavenly

...

and darkness falls in my eyes

and days are far from rosy now

and if i asked for the sky

would you still shelter me

when the sky falls
