In 1899, Makee Sugar Co. built a landing at Anahola — also joined to Kealia by rail — where manager Fairchild reckoned that ships could tie at a pier while loading and unloading, but Anahola Landing proved to be less than ideal because it was open to heavy swells, making it sometimes impossible for large vessels to moor at its pier.
Anahola Landing was dismantled in 1914 and demolished in 1920, so that only its pier pilings remain today.
Early morning and a summer's sunrise across the misty Iping Common, near Midhurst, Rother Valley, South Downs National Park, West Sussex - Canon EOS 750D - EF 70-200mm f/4L-USM
The weather couldn't make up it's mind. Rain was pouring down out at sea, to the east and behind me, while to the west the sun was giving off its last glimpse of light before disappearing. Made it through the evening without getting wet but nearly getting knocked off the rocks several times from rouge waves. A dangerous game we play with the ocean!

"Sunday morning, skeleton tree
Pressed against the sky
The jittery TV
Glowing white like fire
And I called out, I called out
Right across the sea
I called out, I called out
That nothing is for free"

I love the effects of long exposure on the ocean. It is always a surprise as to what you end up with (or maybe it's not for those more experienced than I!).
I like the way the smooth rocks lead out into the smooth sea.
LONG EXPOSURE (DEC 2019)
I really love long exposure an hour or so before sunrise. The colors are amazing, you get the blue skies and stars!
Infinite Space and the vast expanse of the sea and sky... its why I love the coast so much. In Autumn, I spend so much of mt time in the woods so its nice to get to the coast once in a while.

Summer sun setting on Red Rocks at the gateway to Big Sur.
210 degree long exposure panorama. [little secret: the sun was actually at my back to the left]

About
Every time I return from a trip I need to get out and shoot a sunset or something, as us locals know we have 100's of great locations here in South East Queensland. So here is a test shot with an idea I've been working on.
Enjoy.
- Canon 50D.
- ISO 100, f22, 3.2 seconds, 10mm.
- Sigma 10-20mm Lens.
- Tripod, (setup on the back of my Ute).
Processing
- Convert to 16bit Tiff.
- Unsharp mask in Photoshop 6.0 (200%).
Another shot from the FLICKR/WDWPhotograhy.com meet up last week. If you've never done a meet up with other photographers, you really should consider it. It is a ton of fun and you learn lots.
This of course is Wishes. We choose to shoot from a different location such in front of the Crystal Palace. There we 8 of us lined up. One nice thing about this location is no one is in front of you and you can get some sweet reflections off of the water. Thanks for looking!
Its amazing how different this location can look just a few weeks apart. Here is a shot from a few weeks before.
(3 minute exposure)
The Pier on Hanalei Bay -- dancing in the light of a Blue Moon.
Stars, clouds and all. Amidst all the revelers. It was a night of great experimentation, preparation ... and awe. The photographers "aha" moment.
Weston Beach at Pt Lobos State Reserve. Just another glorious sunset to start the year. Use of multiple Singh Ray filters. A place of constant renewal and study of over 35 years.
The plan was a trip during the lowest tides of the year at Sunset on Christmas weekend. Life has its diversions and it was not to be. This was probably even better than the low tidepools I sought.

I enjoy spending time photographing a mountain stream, even if I don't capture any outstanding images
A rain band gathering up a storm, out at sea and heading our way. An approaching storm is one of the joys of seascape photography.
Title from Tom Waits song (thanks for the inspiration Paul D.)
There was a lot of variety in the fireworks last night in Astoria. I usually don't like this weeping type of burst, but the combination with other bursts is appealing to me here. This is a composite of two shots to show the people on the left without motion blur.
A long shutter speed captures the turmoil of the sea as the tide comes in and waves crash in all directions.
One of the most underrated waterfalls in Yosemite National Park. This is a series of waterfalls/cascades that drop over 5000 feet! This section under Big Oak Flat Road is a favorite of mine and many falls and shooting angles exist.
A long-exposure shot of the International Space Station as it passes over an erupting Soufreire Hills volcano on the Caribbean island of Montserrat.
The canyon is more than 1,000 feet deep and narrows to about twenty feet wide, cutting most of the light, even at mid-day. I shot this at 1:00 p.m., combining three exposures to try to cover the wide dynamic range. The longest exposure was 5 seconds for the foreground
With Mark's fave in the background!
A thoroughly enjoyable evening shoot with the missus, Ian and the boys, and Mark! Definitely one for a revisit, hopefully when a tad warmer!
I was hoping that below freezing temps would have resulted in some ice at the local waterfalls today, but there is very little

Terry aka nadinfinity and I hit the North Shore at dawn last weekend, thanks for the
company Terry and you got some great shots. View Large On Black
There was some rock mellon coloured sky as we did the last shots and the GND helped save it a bit as it was burning out quickly. Was a very clear dawn but great for some fresh air.
