Latin Name: Saxifraga × urbium - London Pride

Taken whilst wandering around our garden with my camera to hand, these tiny flowers are quite intricate when viewed large.

Taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II and Canon Telephoto Zoom 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM EF Lens and framed in Photoshop.

"Houston, we have a problem!" Went for a stunning cross-country run with a freind today and I managed to find a rabbit hole! Nothing broken but did manage to pull my already sensitive hamstring. Today I have mostly been photographing our re-wilded garden and will be until I can get my physio to do my strapping for me. Oh well, no cycling or running or walking far for a while and we are off to North Norfolk next week too.

Had a brew in London a few months ago. This was taken in Fuller's Pub in London England.

The flower London Pride [Saxifraga x urbium] which, although not native, has been extensively naturalised for more than a century. Here in the churchyard at Meerbrook, Staffordshire.

I should go back with my special macro tripod and get a proper close-up of these.

Looks much better on Black

Today was one of those days when you spend hours setting up and capturing various scenes, only to be disappointed with the results and then you come home, something catches you eye and within minutes you're a happy photography obsessive once more. It can be frustrating but as soon as you see that image appear on your camera screen and you know you have 'the shot', it all becomes worth it! I've also noticed recently that I've become a Bokeh addict and I know I'm not alone. HBW!

This image is in homage to 'Her Majesty The Queen' to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee. This is one of my favorite flowers, and its name 'London Pride' perfectly suits the atmosphere surrounding the celebrations!

Taken at 2016 London Pride. It was my first time there and it was a truly wonderful and colourful event. With everybody thoroughly enjoying the event just as it was intended.

Managed to make it to London Pride again, with my pal sisyphus007. This time I hired a Canon 85mm f/1.2L II lens, an absolute brick that was in itself a workout to carry round. Was perhaps a bit too ambitious in my determination to shoot with as wide an aperture as possible. When I hit the right focus point it was sharp, but I did find the focussing to be a little cumbersome.

As ever, the day was characterised by fun, happiness and laughter. The participants were, without fail, delighted to be photographed. Hopefully they all enjoyed the day !!

London. London Pride 2018.

A friend of ours snatched the camera and took this shot at dinner.

I was first introduced to the real beauty of this little plant by my macro lens. This charming saxifrage makes a great border plant and in May it sends up hundreds of flower spikes about nine inches high with sprays of tiny flowers on top.

The effect is a lovely soft pink haze floating above the ground but the real delight I discovered is the miniature flowers. They are only about a centimetre across but contain a wealth of creative detail - colour spots and spikes and colours, all in perfect symmetry...

I liked this sideways shot because you get a feel of the mist of colour as well as the optimism in each flower. Like waiting for signals from space (...or perhaps just a bee!).

This is for the Macro Mondays group's All Natural theme this week.

Thank you for taking time to look. I hope you enjoy the image! Happy Macro Monday :)

[Handheld in sunlight; manual focus.

Developed in Lightroom to bring out the colours but keep a high-contrast mystery.

Cleaned up the odd hair with Inpainting.

Sharpened in Affinity Photo using Clarity and two Unsharp Mask layer, on masked to give high-intensity sharpening for the dots and the stigmata.

Cropped and rotated to the diagonal to add some strength to the composition.

Dodge and Burn (which I've not used before) to reduce the effect of the bright blur on the left and bottom and to enhance the flare-like blur top right.]

London Pride 2022, a massive, joyous and inclusive celebration of queer culture, a great day
