South London cloud reflections.

Forget now where this was in Canary Wharf - but suspect PWC if memory serves me relatively well.

Anyway, bit of a shoot and run on a lovely sunny day ...

Looking up at the curvaceous balconies of the 'Riverwalk' apartments, overlooking the River Thames at Westminster, in London. Architects: Stanton Williams.

I stood facing the main entrance to the Natural History Museum, focusing on the polychromatic terracotta arch with its alternating cream and blue tones. I liked how the layered stonework and sculpted columns framed the doorway with clear symmetry. I took the photo to highlight the structure’s detail and sense of scale.

Abstract structures in Central London. Everything that you see here will shortly be demolished, sadly.

Architecture – Modern

This is a seventh series of buildings (some as photographed), glass panels, abstract shapes formed from buildings. Most are in London, although they could be any city. I have not named any building, nor have attempted to find Architects or Designers. I have just altered things to my own taste, nothing is sacrosanct, nothing lasts for ever, new ideas quickly become old as will these images be the moment I post them. Please enjoy.

A 'straight out of camera' photo from my recent walk around central London. The skies were that blue, the plane was that high, and the 'M' hotel by Montcalm (London EC1), on the right, was that angular.

Another photo of the recently completed Unex Tower in Stratford, East London. As you've probably guessed, I quite like this structure!

Yet another from this location.

The Shock of the New

This is another series of images, Here I’m showing how Modern Architecture has embedded itself with the more Traditional Architectural styles. Some successful, some in my view not so. But we’re all different. You may like them. What It does tell you however, is that progress cannot be stopped. There are forces greater than you out there.

Another great session with my local photography club - learning how to shoot light trails. Not sure I'll make a habit of it, but I was quite pleased with this attempt.

The Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, South East London.

Designed by Christopher Wren and built between 1696 and 1712. The buildings were originally constructed to serve as the Royal Hospital for Seamen at Greenwich, now generally known as Greenwich Hospital. The hospital closed in 1869. Four years later the buildings were converted to a training establishment for the Royal Navy. The Royal Navy finally left the College in 1998 when the site passed into the hands of the Greenwich Foundation for the Old Royal Naval College.
