Tussen pilaren
schrijft het mistig licht
voor de oude zomer
een afscheidsgedicht
Weemoedig lommer
schildert ten afscheid
met rood,geel en bruin
een kleurig tapijt
Stralend verwelkomt
zacht licht tussen bomen
de stormige herfst
die is gekomen.
One of the great northern diver/common loon (Gavia immer) photos from my neighbourhood one week ago, that I mentioned in the previous upload of the same species.

We have great northern divers/common loons (Gavia immer) wintering in our neighborhood from October to early May. They only breed in the Arctic regions.
Normally we see them in their brighter winter plumage. But in the end of April last year, I also got to enjoy two of them nearly finished turning into their summer plumage.
They splashed around for a long time, making their beautiful sound to each other.
I love getting the chance to enjoy them over time when they are close to land.

Check out more photos of them from that day, as well as some in their winter plumage, catching a large fish one week ago, in the links below the line!

Religious buildings in Amsterdam West, a short series for my photoclub Foto in Beeld.
This is the Sint-Josephkerk, Erik de Roodestraat, Bos en Lommer, Amsterdam.
Built in 1952, this was the first Catholic church in the Netherlands to be constructed in concrete. From 1996 till 2012 this Rijksmonument (National Heritage building) was used as an indoor climbing gym; nowadays it's a playground for kids.
A red-throated diver/loon (Gavia stellata) that came close for a long time by one of our beaches in October.
