This log was crazy. It had coins lodged in every crack. It was hard to tell how long it had been collecting coins. It must have been a while but some of the more corroded looking ones were dated 2002 and the like...

These kind of dead trees always remind me of huge bones lying out on the heath. they were catching the dying evening light really well, but I'm not sure I've done them justice...

These are the felled trees from around the lake of Thirlmere in theLake District. There was a culling of trees there a couple of years ago :-)

The log was enlarged as a seperate layer and repositioned then a little cleaning up with clone/patch/healing tools. Levels adjusted, a little bit of saturation and drop shaddow frame added.

the loggers have been hard at work thinning out the pines...still remnants of the snow up here!
