Logs in the Howard Prarie/Hyatt Lake area outside of Ashland.

There are logs piled or stacked up almost everywhere in the Black Forest it seems. These logs were right outside the guest house (Ferienwohnung) where we were staying, probably to give the guests a jumpstart on getting through the next winter!

I went for a hike through the forest near my vacation cabin and made an unpleasant discovery. What I thought was a preserve is still an active tree farm.

Here is one of the beasts that helped clear cut an area of many acres.
