Loft conversions are intriguing. In general, I find re-purposing of things wonderful. Converting industrial buildings to residential ones is very compelling. Typically, the pre-converted building has many former windows filled with concrete blocks.
While walking past the Lincoln Fabrics building in Port Dalhousie, I imagined it as a loft conversion. Thanks to image editing software, this imagination can be shared.
Great views of Port Dalhousie harbour, Dalhousie Yatch Club, Lakeside Park and Lake Ontario. Easy access to major roads. Not sure if the fire escapes meet code, but the final version could be modified.
It's a good thing I did not try a career in real estate.

This is by the same architect team who did Red Light District Restaurant, that I recently shot. I was in the neighborhood running an errand so I took a few photos because the sky was nice. I didn't have my tripod so these are balanced on the roof of a car parked across the street. I really should come back with a tripod and some lighting and do it properly some day...

I don't know about LOFT as a clothing brand.... but I LOVE "LOFT" as a style of interior design!! :)))
An impressive building considering Kitchener isn't a particularly large city. It was renovated into lofts about a decade ago.
Boa Tarde Flickerianos e Pessoal que tava no Loft Sexta feira.
Sexta feira, 06 de Julho de 2012 o Loft Paulo Cesar completou um ano de existência, e pra isso eu e minha equipe registramos tudo com imenso carinho e fascínio.
A decoração estava linda, sei que nessa foto só tem o bolo, mas nas fotos abaixo descrevo um pouco a festa na legenda.
Com som do Dj André Olly e os Bartenders Kabaar a festa se desenrolou, com muito luxo, descontração e felicidade, foi um evento ótimo de ser fotografado, Amei a iluminação do local, adorei cada detalhe que foi colocado na festa *-*
Espero que voces meus flickerianos que leram até aqui gostem da foto, que eu montei com muito carinho pra todos viu?
Logo postarei fotos e novidades, minha vida ta se enxendo de contratos *--* to amando isso '-'

We're converting a 1940's church into a home; initially, it was a big, empty box inside. This is the southeast corner of the room, what you see here is just about 1/4 of the total space in the main building. Here, I built a platform which has two rooms underneath it, nearest to the camera will be a library, and at the back is an office.
This picture was taken within a minute after I got the bed assembled and threw some comforters on it; you can see that our male cat, Otis, wasted zero time in getting on there and staking his claim. At the right rear, in the chair, those eyes belong to the other cat, Asia.
The church's interior ceiling height is about 14 feet, so I used 9' BCI as the floor joists and we have about 6 1/2 foot ceilings. I'm 5'11" and Deb is about 5'8, so it works out OK. In fact, we got a bonus in the construction of the library, we were able to create bookshelves in the ceiling by attaching 1"x12" planks to the bottoms of the joists, which made for perfect paperback bookshelves in the amount of about 132 linear feet (12, 11' shelves.)
Those partially completed stairs you see in the foreground were, so far, the most difficult part of the project; stairs are tricky darned things. They're done now as far as the surface goes. The outside wall will wait upon further inspiration.

" An economic downturn in the 1980s left many downtown office and warehouse buildings vacant. Twenty years later, developers are snatching up these buildings to create residential living space, as most of these older office buildings are no longer suitable for modern offices. Over 30 historic buildings in downtown (and the immediate vicinity) have been or are being converted to apartments, lofts, and condominiums. These buildings offer residents not only convenient downtown living, but also a part in preserving Dallas' history and character."
Mitchell Loft is one of them.
In 1999, Ron Wommack turned once was old cotton gin to 79 units loft with a courtyard original structure kept and exposed.
He reused materials salvaged from old buildings as much as possible for the remodeling.
My fav part is this courtyard giving a special character to this place but also place for art or socialize in many occasions.
The remodeling won a Preservation Dallas Achievement Award in 2000.
