I wandered up to the lock during my lunch hour to get a few autumnal views of the river. This is all owned by the National Trust which is good news as it stops the riverbank being developed.

Landenstown Lock, Prosperous co KIldare:
Cold frosty morning this morning 2nd of December with the grand canal frozen at Landenstown Lock Prosperous co Kildare.
Found this at the enterance of a section of the North Country Trail where my husband and other volunteers are building a bridge and later more trail.

Some cuteness for your Friday. One lion cub seems to have the other in a head lock as they play fight.
This lock was all alone on the bridge, well I don't know why it was hung there but I think there is a love story behind it. I love seeing these things but I don't like doing them 😅

Yes! Today (December 23rd 2018) is the day: one million total views on Flickr. Two and a half years of hard work finally got me here.
But to be honest, I haven't got a clue what it means, it's just a number. The first picture of mine that hit the 100 views or the ten faves on Flickr was far more exciting than this...

The bottom lock at Braunston is part of the Braunston Lock Flight, a series of six locks on the Grand Union Canal in Braunston, Northamptonshire. These locks help boats navigate a 35-foot rise in elevation as they move between the lower and upper sections of the canal. The bottom lock is the first lock encountered when heading uphill toward Braunston Tunnel. It’s a busy spot, especially during summer, as Braunston is a major junction where the Grand Union and Oxford Canals meet. The lock is surrounded by charming countryside, making it a favourite among boaters and walkers.

This picture was taken at the Hohenzollernbrücke in Cologne, Germany. These locks are a sign of love for young and old couples in love.
It is estimated that (since 2008) 40.000 locks were installed with a weight of 15 tons.
