One of the oldest buildings in Kirkintilloch
"Old Church" and is an elevated position above the main thoroughfare through Kirky known as The Cowgate nearby to the Cross and the modern William Patrick Library. On the grounds there are old gravestones which date back to the 1700's & 1800's.
HISTORY
The ancient historic building dates back to 1644 and served as the local parish church for well over two hundred years until 1914 upon the opening of the much larger St.Mary's Church therefore it was purposed as a Sunday School
It wasn't until 1961 that the building was converted into a more Civic use as the town's museum.
A fellow Dutch collector of mine made last year a small exhibition of a part of his paperback collection in a local museum. His name is Pierre and he called it 'The Paperback Wall' Looks incredibly cool !

Location: Wootton Bassett, now, Royal Wootton Bassett, a small market town and civil parish in Wiltshire, England.
The town was granted royal patronage in March 2011 by Elizabeth II in recognition of its role in the early-21st-century military funeral repatriations, where bodies of servicemen and women of the British Armed Forces killed in Iraq and Afghanistan were repatriated to nearby RAF Lyneham, then passed through the town whilst being transported to John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
The unusual timber framed building on stilts to the right of shot was the former town hall, now a local museum.

Another selfie outside the small museum set in the erstwhile Caucasian Albanian Church in Sheki, Azerbaijan. The ambience and the salubrious weather were indeed superb. In the background is a mannequin of a man on a horse, wearing a traditional sheepskin cap (winter wear) which is typical of this region- I had seen these kind of caps (and long overcoats) last year in Georgia as well. Of course, this is just a mannequin, but rides on real live horses are offered in the church grounds. I did take a couple of horse pictures but wonder why I did not upload them. A selfie inside the ancient church museum near the Khansarai in Sheki, Azerbaijan. This is actually the interior of the old and now defunct Caucasian Albanian Church. The interior houses a haphazardc ollection of ancient instruments, implements and vessels. There is some rudimentary labeling of the items on display but the signs are really too small to read comfortably. The museum will have limited interest to all but those with a keen interest in the living paraphernalia of an ancient era, probably from the days of the Khans. The Auld Kirk next to Kirkie Cross can date itself back to 1644 and one of the town's oldest buildings. It served as the Parish Church until 1914 when it was replaced by the much bigger St Mary's Church further down the Cowgate.
In it's time it has also served as a Sunday School and has been the town's local museum since 1961
