On the glacier. Despite appearances to the contrary, it was surprisingly warm. After a properly sub-zero start to our holiday, the temperature climbed to probably around 5-8C. We had not a breath of wind either, so in the sunshine we were stripping off layers to avoid sweating on the hike. This crevasse is probably the start of one of next years ice caves.
Ingólfshöfði is a nature reserve that's home to thousands of nesting sea-birds, like puffins and great skuas. This birdwatching tour was taken with the group Local Guide, which hauls people across a massive black sand beach in a hay cart to reach the cliffs where the birds live.
