Street art in the area where folks gather for First Friday here in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. This is quite a unique area and well worth a tour when visiting my home city. Down by the Las Vegas City Hall.

Fully clothed, Lucky Dan and Naked Mike made their way into Songwriters Showcase and the KDHX Community Media Magnolia Avenue Studios with a mixed-up but never confused take on classic rock, folk and pop.

Why is Mike naked and why is Dan lucky? Well, Mike Newman spent years with the band Fairchild, so it's no surprise that he would feel a little naked on stage performing with just an acoustic guitar. And Dan Randant is fortunate to have found such a complimentary partner. Their mix of harmonica, vocals and guitars gives them a twangy, bluesy sound, nicely illustrated on their 2008 release This Time.

The bear is the quintessential symbol of the vast wilderness that distinguishes the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks.

These calcite and marble bears were cut and shaped by a skilled lapidary in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. While sculpting, he used the stone's unique colours to enhance the animal's iconic form.

KDHX Community Media, The Whitaker Foundation and Tower Grove Farmers' Market welcomed Cajun Gatorbaitors Saturday, September 15 for a performance that started at 10:00 a.m. and lasted til noon. This performance was a unique opportunity to hear great Cajun/Creole music while shoppers made their way around Tower grove Farmers' Market. The performance took place at the West Pool Pavillion in Tower Grove Park as an installment of Harvest Sessions.

The Cajun Gatorbaitors are a four-piece band that played traditional cajun two-step, waltz and blues music. Many of the songs were true to their Creole roots and were appropriately sung in French - who needs English anyways? The songs were all backed with acoustic instrumentation that included: fiddle, accordion, guitar, bass and piano. Without a doubt, The Cajun Gatorbaitors put a Louisiana-style smile on more then one face and got many market-goers tappin' their toes.

Harvest Sessions is a free concert series taking place every Saturday through out the regular season of Tower Grove Farmers' Market. The Children's Concert Series takes place the first Saturday of each month and the last Saturday of each month is an installment of the International Series.

Members of the Cajun Gatorbaitors include:

Patricia Brown, lead vocals, harmony, dog house bass,Cajun accordian, fiddle and triangle.

Tom Martin, Cajun accordian, keyboards and triangle.

John Higgins, lead vocals, harmony and Cajun fiddle.

Michael Waters, guitar.

This is one of many completed murals and murals in progress that are part of a project using the empty El Paso Saddle Blanket Co. building as a canvas across from the main branch of the public library on Oregon St.

There are some fantastic pieces finished and still under construction. They are using all four sides of the building and it is well worth the walk around the building.

Tom Hall played at Harvest Sessions on Saturday, October 20 from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Harvest Sessions is presented by KDHX Community Media, The Whitaker Foundation and Tower Grove Farmers' Market and takes place every Saturday at the West Pool Pavilion in Tower Grove Park for the duration of Tower Grove Farmers' Market's regular season. Tom Hall has played in countless bands, but his solo performances truly capture audiences. He wanders through the sounds of Argentina, Ireland and Africa, but he always returns to his musical roots. When he is playing Mississippi-inspired blues, he shines like his signature National guitar. If you have not yet seen Hall play live, don't miss this oppurtunity to catch one of St. Louis' most talented artists.

The 2007 inaugural season of Harvest Sessions has featured great concerts from local and regional performers. With Tower Grove Farmers' Market as the backdrop, Harvest Sessions also hosted an International and Children's Series that proved very popular in the community. The Factory Arts District in Las Vegas, Nevada has been reclaimed by us. The area used to be blighted and ugly; artists and entrepreneurs put this area back on the map. This area is home to our First Fridays gathering each month; there is food, music, art, and lots of people whom gather for a night of fun.
